After repacking my front wheel bearings on Saturday, I decided I would spool out my new Master Pull winch line to inspect the line for any wear. I hooked up my Warn remote control and when using the switch, all I would get was a clicking sound coming from the solenoid box. The drum assembly wasn't getting any juice. I've heard of the solenoid "sticking" and am curious if any of you guys have any quick fixes for this. I tried tapping on both the box and the drum assembly, but still no power to the winch. Anybody got any ideas?? I thought I'd reaserch this a bit here before contacting Warn.

I think you are correct that the solenoid is the problem, but I'm not sure how to fix it. You may have to replace the solenoid. I had a Chicago Electric winch that did this and tapping the solenoid with a hammer would unfreaze it.

Not very long.:( In fact, the first winch they sent me caught on fire! :smoker2: Take a look at my old post in "The Good, Bad and the Ugly." I haven't had very good luck with Harbor Freight in general. I still buy hand tools from them, but will never buy their power tools again. I just bought an engine stand from them which seems to be of pretty decent quality. Their stuff is so cheap it's hard to pass it up. But, I have learned my lesson and will buy a Warn winch when I have the extra cash to spend on myself.

The second winch they sent me had the solenoid problem. Sometimes it would stick in the on position and I had to hit with a hammer to turn it off! Now that is a lawsuit waiting to happen:D
