stuck key

i have a 98 breeze with the ignition key will not turn back all the way to release the key
a locksmith took out the key lock and said it is not the lock but most likely is the shifter cable needs to be adjusted
can any one offer any helpful suggestion on what i might do to correct this problem

i found out that this problem of the key sticking in the on position was part of a recall way back in1998 so if any one else should have the same problem there is a recall notice on this
