This may sound like a stupid question but here goes. What is the ideal tire pressure for tires on a 1999 300m , i know that on the door says 32 psi, but i've heard everything from 32 to 40 lbs. On the higher endit is tooth rattling, any advice and opinions? thank you.

I see you live in Mass, so you get frost heaves and such. I would keep it at 32 psi in the winter and go to 34 in warmer times. I usually keep mine at 34 year 'round, but I'm in Florida and we have nice roads. Those potholes and frost heaves can knock you around pretty good.

Definitely stick with the factory specs for lighter loads. IMO 32 for front and 30 at rear when the car just has a driver.

If you have a bit of luggage or weight in the car, like an extra passenger or 2, or some luggage in the trunk, go for 32 all around.

You only need to increase pressure if you increase the weight you are carrying. Only inflate the tires to 40 psi (or the max pressure written on the tire sidewall) when the car is fully loaded, ie: 4 or 5 people plus luggage.

But 40 psi when lightly loaded will only make the ride rougher, decrease traction and cause unusual tire wear patterns.

Here is a thread on the subject.

If you look at your tire wear on your 300M, you will see excessive outside wear on your front tires. Based on extensive conversations with 300M enthusiasts, the higher tire pressure is the overall consensus. This is just for 300M's, not all vehicles that I make my comments earlier and now.
