I thought some of you across the pond would be interested in a European Ford XR4x4.

The the XR4x4 came only as a 5 door hatch and were produce from 1985 to 1993. These came in the form of the mk1 Sierra 2.8 MFI V6 cologne, the mk2 Sierra (1987>) 2.8 MFI V6 cologne, mk2 2.9 EFI V6 cologne and the 2.0 DOHC 8v I4.

There are variations between different years as were catalitic converters were introduced in 1992.

For complete history Nik's site (http://www.asknik.co.uk/car.html) is very good :)

Here's my 1990 2.9 XR4x4, she has now covered 168,000 miles :)

Those are great...much more variations than we got. We got the 3 door, rear drive version as a Merkur XR4Ti, but it also only had a turbo four as compared to the V6. The car never really got very popular, but there are enthusiasts out there :D:D

there were a few hundred turbo conversions done ranging from 200bhp up to 323bhp :D :D :D

:eek::eek:

That's a lot of power! (323)

I have a sweet video on my computer of a RWD Sierra doing a burnout, then slamming into second and continuing to spin the tires :D:D

yeah, it was known as the Minker. There were only a handful made, they were basically a stregtherned 2.9 Cologne V6 with a lower compression ratio and bigger valves with two T02 turbos producing 1.05 bar of boost :cool: :cool: :cool:
