huh.....just trying to decide, since i am planning to purchase anytime from now till next year..... but geez id defininately get a lambo but it seems from the mood of lambo owners that you just cant drive it everyday and its like a weekend car or out to dinner kind of car only....where as i see postings about ferraris and ads in the dupont registry showing ferrari owners rack up more miles when they sell their cars than do the diablo dudes....what gives, is the car that delicate...in terms of everyday drivability...i dunno, i would hate to have a car in such showroom condition and meticuliously kept that i would be afraid to drive it..... any opinions?

thanks:p :D :grey:

Hi,

i have a Ferrari F355 F1 (i think itīs the last sportscar of Ferrari you can drive every day). I had a F360 F1 Modena and gave it back because it was a car for somebody who is 60 Years or above and changed it back into my F355. So if Ferrari than a F355 F1 for every day.

Iīve also got a Lamborghini Diablo. This is very different to Ferrari, because it has incredible power. You should not go to Customers with it. The brakes are not as good as Ferrariīs and everything is a bit tougher but itīs really great to drive with it. Everybody is looking at it.

I had a Porsche 928 and 911. Porsche is the best Sportscar Iīve ever had. But in Germany everybody has one.

I hope this is a little help

thanks for your input, but why do you say the 360 Modena is for old people?

Whoa! They're just a sudden stream of Exotic car owners that showed up here!

My opinion on Ferrari or Lambo, I'd say Lamborghini for the status symbol, Ferrari, if you want relative comfort. Both are extremely powerful and unfortunately, I don't have enough knowledge to comment on the individual aspects of each.

However, I would lean towards lamborghini, they are a bit more powerful (6.1 L V-12) opposed to Ferrari, and the new Murcielago (Many threads about it here) is just an awesome piece of Italian Machinery.

Expect a waiting period fro a Murcielago though, Dibalo's are also no longer in production, so now, any Lambo is twice as desirable as a Ferrari.

That's just my opinion, you guys would probably have more knowledge than myself.

AHHH Hahahahah!:p

Hey Porsche....Im also considering a 911 Turbo awd....
yeah i seen some reasonably priced Diabos anywhere from 100Grand - 200 Grand US Dollars and I checked some dealership sites..I just don't want hasseles having to always maintain my car...I mean I dont abuse my rides or drive reckless....I've read about previous owners who just got lemons even though their cars were pampered and some Lambos and Ferraris had some quaility control issues.....the problem is that i cant find any decent magazines that cover lambos or ferraris....at least here in the US. I've picked up issues of Forza and Excellence (Porsche magazines) let alone any decent books that would give honest straight forward answers and not just glorify the the product....you know? I wanna drive the car for pure enjoyment and not have to worry about milage or anything else beyond routine maintanence and taking care of the car... I know most exotic car owners take care of their cars and you can get well documented history on them....ahhh i dunno im just rambling....and another thing.....where I live....there is not factory authorized lambo dealers.....so im wondering if non factory authorized garages will take care of repairs under warranty....i've found a garage here but havent checked it out yet....hey Lambo Boy Help!!!!

Thanks for your reply:eek: :D :p :D :)

Hehe, BTW, I don't own a Porsche....yet. I'm a bit like you, but on a much smaller scale. As for the 911 Turbo thing, if you are considering a Lamborghini, you may want to consider a GT2.... They are the ultimate, untouchable status symbols. Although, A bit pricey, they get you performance, reliablity, driveability and of course, the Porsche name. If they're isn't a dealer around though, that could be bad, you say you have a 355 F1 right now? Well how do you service it? I'd make sure you had some access to an authorized dealer though. Porsche might be easier to work with, cause they are more common than Diablos or Ferraris.

I'm just leaning to Porsche now that you threw it into the works. I think a 911 Turbo would be awesome, but you are quite right about magazines, it is quite hard to get solid information on the cars. Car and Driver magazine , also selected the the Turbo to be a good everyday driver, well over the GT2, but the Turbo is your accessory filled, ultra hot performance machine.

Well, i say this to everyone, its cheap to buy a car, but expensive to maintain it!!

you have a lot of hassels if you have such powerful car like that. in Australia, probational drivers which is the first time drivers ( 3 years chage to full licences) you cannot drive any thing power rateing over 128KW per tonne, and 2.3L per tonne) Any ferrari will be over the limit. i believe in US, there is some sort of a restriction as well.

Insurance is another big factor. to just insure the car, you can buy one or two very desent sports cars.

Service, road tax, etc are also a costly thing. Fuel bills, especailly with Diablos, the 550's weekly consume is around $55 on Shell Optimax, for same distance, i have to pay over $70, some times even more!!

BUt if you sit down and your calculator saids 'alrite' lets go for a super car like that then... you choose from your personality.

a lambo owner once told me that Lambo is not like ferrari that you would just stop and buy couple of coffee.....

its more of a once a while show off car, to be honest, except the VT, and the roadster, the other ones are rather uncomfortable. the SV have back vision but the seats are like pulled out from a VW. the brandnew VT are very comfortable, but compare to the Raodster, there is a long way! but if the roadster is a bit expensive, then definatly go for a above 98 VT model, if you like the flip front light, than below the 98 is good, but there isn't that much power delievered.

if you want a Ferrari, definatly choose between a 355 and a Modena, 550 is for someone older, modena is alrite!! if you want a 355, go for the GTS, it is hard to explain until you drive one of them, its more comfortable than the belinetta and the spyder is too much hassel to maintian, especailly if you are near the costal region with a lot of sea salt.

modena is relatively good, consider its only V8 (diablos are V12 5.7L) both have valve managment which i think the Ferrari is more advanced on that. with the F1 shift pads, it is very powerful! do keep in mind that VT are 4wds, its grip is a lot better, but than again the cluth is used up a lot more. although Lamborghinis shoudn't have any problem if you just drag is once a while.

as in maintainence, Ferrari's timing belt needs to change depending on the particular model, i believe the 550 is 20 thousand kms new car, than takes longer, while the diablos basically set for life!!

Ferrari have a much better braking system, fuel managment and it is comfortable. Diablos are more jumpy, have to turn, control.

Diablos give a excellent front view, which make you feel like top of the world, while back vision is poor, Ferrari is much better in that area, altho it doesn't feel as powerful as it should.

talking about driving!! Once again, you ahve to drive to see wut suits you. personally, i love th diablo because the gear shift is on a very tall arm rest. which means that you both arms can rest perfectly, for me which is a right hand drive, my right hand would be resting on the arm rest and holding the steering, and the left hand is holding the gear shift with my whole arms rest on the thing!! its is quite a design, i really love it, where in the Ferrari, it is just.....

and in terms of speed... best i did (friend count it) was 4.2 seconds 0 -100, i know it could do a lot better. and the 550 was 5 seconds flat. the modena and 355 is V8, so you should have a idea. and this is real driving, not factory estimate!! once drag with the 550, the guy was an excellent driver, i beat him from 0 to 70 by about 1/4 body length, catch up from 70 to 100, (understand that diablo's 1st gear to 2nd is hard) its not like ferrari's up to down, its rather, left bottom to mid up, lost a bit, then the Roadster kain from 100 to 170, for about 1 body length. that was in a straight. when turning (normal street 90 degree turning) the roadster needs a lot of power to slow down, where the 550 is easy as hell. but the roadster is 4wd, so once the turn is compelete, i can floor it and it won't skip which the 550 may still do burnout on 3 gear.

but that drag was about 1 min also, my fuel gauge was down by 1/4, then it went up a bit, that shows how much petrol it drains.

i hope that would give you a idea of the two cars!!

Ya, the GT2 is stripped down but for a 196 mph top-end speed, that fine with me. I would again say either the GT2 or Turbo for everyday driveability. I Hope what ever choice you make keeps you happy!

Ya ya, so what. I know the Diablo's a better car, it also costs more. as for a Viper GTSR and a 360 Modena Challenge, I didn't know that they were street-legal.

I really love the 360 Modena but I heard the paddle shifters aren't so great......the new Lamb is sweet but out of my price range....Diablos are still a good bet as well as the GT2.....how about aftermarket tuners for each cars....i know Ruf does it for Porsche and I want to know who makes some good exhaust, intake, rims for the above cars...havent seen much for Ferrari and Lambo except for Tubi (www.tubistyle.it) exhaust....which i hear is sweet sounding and really does help with mid to high end torque...any ideas guys?:D :p
