Hey everyone, Has any one wired an after market radio in a new beetle ? I have a 1999 and even if I could get the presets to work to enter my code the face is dry and all cracked. My real question is when wiring an after market radio do you just not hook up the wire to the computer and theft system? I Have wired radios into cars before just none that used the radio in the diagnostic system , and don't want to throw a bunch of codes. I have the wiring diagrams from alldata and have it all figured out but those 2 wires. Thanks

ok found answer to my own question here is answer for anyone with the same. When installing an after market radio whether you are using an aftermarket adapter plug or cutting and splicing yourself. You must make sure that the K line to the computer link is not connected to anything. Now if it is connected to an aftermarket plug it will work just fine BUT, The first time you have to have a dealer or shop put a scan tool on your car it will fry the scan tool and they will most likely make you pay for it. The stock wiring has 3 plugs to the back of the radio. Their is a 8 pin black connector plug pin number3 is the k line to the computer. cut and tape end and you good.gry/wht wire
