Mercedes F400 CarvingJay! 10-26-2001, 08:34 PM I found this pic here (http://www.dinside.no/page/artf/27279.shtml?f=s), but I don't even know what language that is, much less be able to read it. Kappasocer08 10-26-2001, 08:51 PM Now that is a intresting car! Jay! 10-26-2001, 09:21 PM primera man 10-26-2001, 09:38 PM The only thing missing is BATMAN :p :p Morpheus XIII 10-27-2001, 05:00 PM Mercedes-Benz sure knows how to inspire spirit and soul. The F400 seems to combine the essence of older MBs, like the 300 SL, with new and moving technology from the SLR and Vision cars. The whole damn thing is electronic: drive-by-wire controls both steering and braking, 'active body control' (ABC) and 'active hydropneumatic suspension' (AHP) govern lean/pitch, 'electronic stability program' maintains traction. Most importantly, the F400 has 'active camber control' which as you can see in some of the photos, actually tilt the camber up to 20 degrees during turns so that the wheels and tires take away the pressure from the body, which in turn remains flat. Of course, regular tires would be useless at 20 degrees of negative camber, so specialty versions were concocted by DiamlerChrysler and Pirelli. The engine of choice is a 3.2L V-6 (where they got the number 400, I have no idea) with a sequentronic transmission with wheel mounted shifters. What is the end result? 1.28G of lateral force. The suits remind me of the guy in the Lexus IS "Sufficiently Radical" ads. Morpheus XIII 10-31-2001, 05:32 PM You're right, that is a female. Still, the dude looks weird. :D I think they got the term 'Carving' from skiing, and that goes hand in hand with what you said about carving up the road. F20C 11-01-2001, 03:24 AM However it only has 218hp I think. Only good enough for 0-60 in 6.7 seconds. F20C 11-01-2001, 03:25 AM I didn't see you mention it. Anyhow the main thing that allow the car to maintain 1.28G is it's Active Camber Unit. DVSNCYNIKL 11-01-2001, 07:47 AM Holy Bat Missles Batman!!! Morpheus XIII 11-07-2001, 07:53 PM I don't think Mercedes cared much to make the F400 a power demon, which is probably why it doesn't have tremendous straight-line performance. After all, it is a suspension engineering exercise right? F20C 11-09-2001, 12:49 AM It wouldn't hurt to have 300hp. :silly2: The car looks gorgeous in my mind. blatch 11-17-2001, 03:15 PM THE AMBIGUOUSLY GAY DEUO!!!! Morpheus XIII 11-19-2001, 04:39 AM HAHAHAHAHA!!! It's the ambiguity that makes the animated skit hilarious. Shaitan 06-09-2002, 09:05 AM ugliest piece of shit ive ever seen!!!
