2001 CHevy Silvy 1500 wierd sounds

I got a ticking kind of noise coming from the engine its not knocking when it idles it sounds like someone is tapping thier nails on a desk sort of. Also my truck is lifted and ive heard alot of lifted trucks do this. I think its my U-bars but im not sure it sounds like owl hoots when i come from a complete stop to moving. Any help would be appreciated.

Which engine? The 4.8/5.3 were known for some righteous piston slap.

I think I know what the owl hoots are. Pull your rear driveshaft and put a little grease on the splines and see if that cures it.

LOL so the tapping sound was a spark plug that was disconnected and was tapping against the block. That was an easy fix and for the driveshaft ill do that soon and see how it works out.
