my daughter has a '97 pontiac bonneville that began acting up about 2 weeks ago. The heater blower works intermittently. Sometimes it won't work when the car is started, but begins to work later. Sometimes if you slam the door it will work. Other times nothing makes it work. Sometimes she starts it and it will work several days in a row, then nothing. Thinking it may be a loose connection or motor going bad. Where is the heater blower motor located? is it under the dash? or on the firewall? Any other thoughts as to what could cause this behavior? Thanks!

Sounds typical of a blower motor failure. Have you tried tapping the motor with a hammer when it does not run? IIRC, the motor is mounted on the firewall.

If you have a voltmeter:
Unplug the blower motor.
With the key on & blower on high check for 12 volts at the wiring harness. If you have at 12 volts then replace the blower motor. Let us know if the volts are less than 12.

yes we tried that and it did start working so it appears we will have to replace the blower motor. thank you!:iceslolan
