How long will your G20 live for? V6 vs. V8?

I'm looking at getting a mid 90's G20 conversion van. How many miles will a G20 'live' for? Is buying one with 70k much preferable to 130k, assuming I'd like to have the car for 5 years and then resell it? How many miles do these vans go for, assuming decent care?

Is a V6 better on gas than a V8?

A low mileage mid 90 is hard to find.

I have saw 200-250K and more on them if they are serviced good.

Hard to say on gas mileage.

On a 95 G-20 van the average mileage is 168000 and avrage price is around 1500$

Check it out good before you buy it and do not pay to much and take ggod care of it you may be able to resell it in 5 years and get 1/2 or more of your money back that you pay for it.

Within reason, lower mileage is better

All things being equal, the V6 gets slightly better economy than the V8. But all the well-optioned, nice vans and all conversion vans seem to be V8's. The V6 is found mostly on basic cargo vans, rental vans, etc.

Imo, get the best condition van that you can find. This is more important than the engine choice.

Compared with most cars, these vans are easy to repair and maintain because they are simple and straightforward. The cost for parts and service is often cheaper than most cars.

I bought mine 10 years ago from someone who thought it only had 94k miles on it. But in changing the tranny filter I saw that the flywheel had been repositioned, and there were -two- well worn areas where the starter would hit the flywheel ring: Therefore I assumed it had 194,000 on it. It has the 350 with TBI, & the 4 speed auto trans. Now it has 264,000, and is beginning to show its age, with leaks around the windshield. I replaced the fuel pump when my daughter was going to drive it on a 4000 mile vacation to Mexico - during which trip nothing went wrong. I had to replace the engine temp sensor once & the spark plugs a couple of times. The alternator seized up on a zero degree day in northern Wisconsin, & I fixed that myself at the side of the road. I had to replace the output shaft seal on the transmission - which turned out to be fairly easy too. When first I got it I replaced the radiator, fan clutch, water pump, and hoses, & serpentine belt tensioner pulley; as pre-emptive repairs. Its a conversion van with the 3rdseat/bed combo, and has long since paid for itself just in the number of times we have slept at Walmart (instead of motels) while on cross country drives.
I had the main computer quit on us in the middle of a trip across Texas; it would crank over but not restart, after gassing up at a Valero station. I had been carrying a spare computer for years, so I swapped it in and we were on our way again.
Since we bought it, no one other than myself has worked on it, and it has yet to fail to get us where we wanted to arrive by the end of the day.

Hey all. Im about to buy a used 1992 G20 for 8k. Previous owner definitely took really good care of it. Its very obvious and appears to be in good shape. It has 150k miles on it rn, and i was wondering what the average life span in terms of miles is?
