What are you using for the body work?

Can't wait to see more...

hey mrceej, thank for the comp. im using just putty for the front and rear arches since i didn't have a particular design in mind. also using styrene for certain parts.

Ah, now comes the fun part; sanding. :D

I like the look you're getting at here. I really enjoy watching 86s being built.

I guess my question should be what specific putty? Since the tamiya putties have been discontinued I have never found anything that matches it terms of ease of application and shaping/sanding. I've since went back to using Testor's and Elmer's wood filler but I'm still not satisfied. I see that you're in California so I was hoping you had a better solution that I could find locally.

PS I'm on the 4AG boards as well.

i see. it's the tamiya 2 part epoxy putty. got it on ebay a while back. they have some polyester type putty now, i hear it good as well. im looking on buying some to try it out.
there is also some green stuff, i forgot the name of it. but when i get back to the desk ill look for it to tell you.

im on c4ag forum as well. under zenkicoupe.

ok, this doesn't look like much of an update. but sanding the body to get it smooth for paint is a pain. plus cold weather doesn't help either for getting ready for painting.
it actually sits the way it's suppose to sit. it's on axles and front suspension. stripped the chrome off of the wheels and rear calipers. hope to get it done soon. looks like better weather here in so cali.

hey very cool build! I love the fenders/ rollcage. I'm currently working on sil eighty. I love your build

I do have some questions for you.

1. where did you find your wheels/tires?

2. where did you find your intercooler?

3. what forum is this build from?

thank you for your help!

thanks guys.
battery: i got the wheels from www.hwjapan.com, intercooler is from an old lancer evo kit i had/have, and the build is for www.spc.org.uk. you need to register first to see the rest of the site. it's located in the style battle royal in the contest section.

steve: i would have more pics, but i haven't had much progress. lols. i got to primer the chassis today and hope to shoot it w/the field gray tomorrow along w/shooting primer on the body and silver for the base for my roll cage. lots to do and i hope it gets done.

after this last pic, my battery died to my camera.
i had to re-shoot the paint cause it cracked a bit due to cold weather. so it's has primer again, the roll cage is painted metallic blue, chassis is painted the same as the wheels, and other parts as well.

I think your interior and cage look fantastic. The front end and rear bumper are well done too, but honestly I'm not stoked on the rear quarterpanels. I feel you could touch them up though and have it turn out great!

(better than I could do, but in one of your posts you asked for feedback)

Keep up the good work!

thanks b16, tried to smooth it out some more. the paint in that last shot was actually cracked. sanded smooth as possible and primed again.
heres what it looked like this past week.

and what i did friday night. painted the black parts, shot some clear on the front and rear bumpers along w/the roll cage. the seat was a 2 day progress, first time i try the flour method. the black on the car is just a base coat, looks funny cause i guess it got too cold. will be adding another coat and then the metallic.
