I always wanted to try that hiro heatshielding. Im so tempted to try this one also. The scale motorsport fxx kit is awesome i have to say, if you plan on making the black one i suggest getting that kit. Only downside to it is it only has cf for the outside, no interior.

Nice selection of extras!! One thing to mention is i think one last thing you might want to detail is the shocks. I know aber, scale production and other make em. Either way looking forward to seeing some progress, and best of luck on this build.

BTW Crazy modeler didn't include brake detail?

wonderful color:)

Just imho beware of the color of plastic.Red is always coming up, so when u will start to paint it, just be sure the primer really cover all the red plastic.

What's the Candy Purple paint for?? :headshake
Project R33 GTR coming soon to an Automotiveforum near you....

Yes im using the Basic PE set from Crazy modeller, kinda sucks theres no brakes detail & its also missing the mesh from the engine cover beside the glass. But thats ok, i plan to wheather the discs anyway...

Id love to get the Scalemotorsports Full detail set, maybe in the future, i dont think my skills are quite ready for that much detail.

Red Plastic, Yes i always use 2 primer coats, pearl white has to be one of the hardest colours to get right, i used 2x cans of Tamiyas White fine primer to get a solid white finish. Check out this photo, this is the difference between 3x Tamiya Ferrari Kits, FXX & F50, Also my 360 CS plastic was a slightly different shade of red.

No Clear just yet - decals where average, some didnt want to stick to the paint, i accidently found one on my hand 2 hours later, & had to put it back on...
Applying to clear coat would have been better

It's looking really good in white, both the original and your model!

I've heard of silver paint being a good barrier for bleed through, especially on red plastic it would be usefull.

Pretty colour! You are right about pearl white, it is hard to archieve a satisfactory result, but you did it! The silver pigments are fine which really made the model look realistic!

Really nice colour choice. I also like how it looks to have a satin finish in some photos and hope it will be the final finish :). I'm looking forward to following this. I'm interested to see how you're going to detail everything.

Hey Guys, thanks for the comments!! I dont have any progress as of yet, but im off work for 2.5 weeks over Xmas, so will get hopefully heaps done!! Ive even taken my aircompreesor & airbrush home from work so will be turing my carpeted garage into a paint booth (sorry landlord, .... I do have a few drop cloths aswell!!).
The colour was very satin before i clearcoated it, it was a very nice colour!!
Stay tunned for more in the new year. Merry Xmas!!

Well seeing as i Have to be at work today (Sunday & also halfway through my Summer VACATION!!!!) I thought id post a few pics of the progress ive made over the first half of my holiday.

Carbon fibering - Still lots to finish
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s258/da_ashman/FXX%2017/Photos117.jpg

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s258/da_ashman/FXX%2017/Photos119.jpg

Weathering the Engine, first I painted it Flat Ali, then i airbrushed a heavily diluted mixture of flat black, gun metal & ali over the entire engine to darkin it up abit. Then I wipe away my weathering with cotton swabs soaked in thinners to leave the raised edge shinny & looking good. Its hard to see in the Photos but does look quite good.
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s258/da_ashman/FXX%2017/Photos120.jpg

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s258/da_ashman/FXX%2017/Photos124.jpg

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s258/da_ashman/FXX%2017/Photos129.jpg

The Exhausts:
I glued the exhausts together then filled all join lines, then i wanted to add some weld joints, so i used some gap filling superglue & a paperclip (folded out), added the weld line and then i airbrushed X32 Titanium Silver (as per instructions)
To give it the "I've been used a few times & am not an expensive paperweight" I wanted to highlight the joints, i airbrushed a mixture of flat black & gunmetal to where the weld joints were. then i heat treated the exhaust with Clear blue & Clear Red/Orange mixture. it turned out awesome!! Then i painted the raised weld line with silver paint & added a touch of tinned black to the outsides. Im very happy with the results!! Let me know what you think...

TIM

Thanks everyone, Tim I use Tamiya Masking tape or a good Painters tape before any paint is sprayed. Place tape over area you want & use a sharp scapel blade or a thin tipped marker. A little experence & youll get to know how much adbuse (with MicroSol) a decal can handle. The best thing about using the low tac tapes is you can apply the template onto the CF sheet & cut around it, allow 1-2mm extra & peal it off before putting into water.
With my FXX the tape templates covered the front of the box, theres ALOT of Carbon
More progress soon

It's coming along nicely. Engine looks great so far. I have the Model Factory Hiro FXX transkit that I spent a ton of money on before Tamiya decided to make the FXX kit....I wonder which one is better? The MFH kit probably has a ton of cleaning up to do with all the resin and white metal parts I think (I haven't looked at the kit in probably 2 years and I don't think im good enough to do a good job on it so far)

I had to shave a bit of material off to get the rear fenders to sit flush with the undertray & chassis, mainly due to the seperate scoop. If i were to do this kit again ( and i probly will) id attach the scoops to the fenders & fill the seems before painting.

& Ive cut out the mesh on the rear screen, the PE set i got did not include this part so will have to use the mesh supplied in the kit.

everything's looking really good. Good job on the engine bay and suspension. Where did you get the Batman figure from? I'm also looking forward to seeing your future projects you have lined up.

Coming together very nicely. Looks great in the white and the little details just add that bit more to it.
Do the clear carrera gt next :-). Ive also got one and would love to see one built.

Thanks Everyone for the comments, very appresicated.
Ive had the Clear Carrera GT for a few years now, i have all the stuff to make it now, PE, CF etc & have started parts, but am a little wary about a clear body.

Anyway, this will hopefully be my last update before finished pics. My braided lines arrived & i fixed the dash, now a few more nights work & shell be done.
