2G MAF on a 1G
ned032002 12-07-2009, 07:08 AM Is as easy as pulling the 1G out and putting in the 2G one? I know I need one of those harness adapters but there all over ebay. Will I need to do anything with Link or is the 2G MAF a direct plug and play with no negative effects? LandoAWD 12-07-2009, 08:31 AM You'll have to change your MAF type in Link to the appropriate selection, but little tuning will be required beyond that. ned032002 12-07-2009, 10:09 PM Is it true that the 1g intake pipe won't work with the 2g maf? Also, would you say it's a good idea to do the swap? LandoAWD 12-08-2009, 06:42 AM It won't fit the round-outlet piping that the 1g can sits on, but it is worthwhile to upgrade as fuel cut is a thing of the past without having to Blaha the 1g MAF. ned032002 12-08-2009, 07:33 AM I'm worried that with the problems I read that people were having with the conversion with lean situations, I don't want to have a variety of possible culprits with all the stuff I'm doing this winter. I mean I've done the 255 rewire, fmic in the spring and a afpr and a few other tweeks so I don't want it to not start. And then be like "o..now wtf?" With link, when I select 2g maf, will the air flow be compensated for? Or will I too have the same issues with lean out? LandoAWD 12-08-2009, 07:36 AM With Link and a wideband, you'll notice any odd behavior. Selecting 2gMAF will have the ECU convinced it is supposed to be using it as a factory unit. ned032002 12-08-2009, 09:27 AM So your saying that I shouldn't have any issues as long as I keep an eye on AFR and such? I need to learn exactly what to look for at any given point during a log. LandoAWD 12-08-2009, 09:40 AM The "easy way" is to have a WB02 in the car for day to day tuning. Other than that, watch for knock and AFRs. ned032002 12-08-2009, 09:58 AM I need to learn where to adjust what with the sliders and such. I don't want to make wrong adjustment and throw everything off. I will need to play with it. I'm waiting on tax time to get what I need then I will get her set up. So you are saying that it is a good idea to do the 2g maf? I just need to get the intake, 2g maf, and adapter harness and I will be set to do it. LandoAWD 12-08-2009, 10:03 AM Sliders will be at or around zero in the MAFComp tab. Selecting the base MAF as a 2g performs preliminary compensation. Can you pm the admin for me, email ned032002@yahoo.com, says its banned? LandoAWD 12-09-2009, 10:27 AM Give me your user ID. ned032002 12-09-2009, 03:00 PM Ned032002 LandoAWD 12-10-2009, 01:03 PM "I looked and there is no one registered with that username. I'm assuming that he is trying to register with his @yahoo.com email address and it's getting kicked back. He'll have to use an email address associated with is ISP, like a Verizon or Comcast address. Have him take a look at this, which should explain everything. http://www.dsmsource.com/forums/sendmessage.php" ned032002 12-10-2009, 05:42 PM Yeah I am using yahoo, I don't have any other email addresses to use. Guess I'll have to figure it out. AutomotiveHelper.com, Copyright ©2013
