Can hardly go up hills or pass people. OBD code P01404 (EGR) cleaned it all out cleared the code, disconnected the battery all night and still has the same problem. Anyone know what this could possibly be? thanks!

do you wash your engine ? If so you may have corroded knock sensors...under intake ..not familiar with the dtc 1404 with this engine/vehicle..not common...

Well i just bought the truck about a month ago and ive never washed the engine. It ran fine but had this code for the EGR. I put duals on it and foolishly cut out my cats cus it wasnt loud enough (thinking i could later trick the comp with special o2 sensors or something) anyway, after that it started running like crap and over the last couple weeks it got worse. so i pulled the codes and it was the o2 sensors now, so i decided to weld the converters back in, thinking it would solve the problem. well it didnt fix it. So i was back to this EGR high output code or whatever. So just today i tried a good used egr and cleared all the codes. Started it up and STILL cuts out when you give it gas. but before i cleared them i checked and now ive got some evap emmisions pressure sensor code, and now i also have system too lean banks 1 and 2. But no EGR code any more. Im thinking this wasnt such a good buy. do you have any ideas how these codes could be linked? thanks!

sounds like you spent money to cause all these issues..this is a truck not a drag strip vehicle.

undo all your mods to original...

THATS MY OPINION...I'M SURE YOURS IS MUCH DIFFERENT.
good luck...

oooookay well i put my catalytic converters back in. it asically just has a flowmaster muffler with dual outlets. i dont see how this can cause all of these problems...? there are thousands of trucks with the same system and those dont have the problems.

But thanks for your help...?

these vehicles were designed pretty good on the emission fuel managemet/exhaust all working to produce the most MPG/power output..

many have found installing a large exhaust with little or no restriction causes the engine to put out less power with a greater gas guzzling ...

hard to understand but true...

the computer is extremely sensitive to changes with all of these componets...thats why I stated strange to have an egr code...

what is this code ? could be the fuel charcoal cannister ...this is damaged when overfilling the fuel tank then parking the vehicle gas expanding and then the fuel vapor system gets gooped up with black charcoal goop..

also if used in off roading dirt dust plugs up the fuel vapor vent /valve..there was a tsb on changing/relocating this..need the dtc...

ok. I can see where youre coming from on this. but it still doesnt make sense. I cut the muffler out for about a week to see if there were any changes. No loss in power, no bad gas mileage. This would have less restriction than my flowmaster, right? So i figured there would be no problems with putting on "fake duals". Also the system is 2.5 inch pipe, same as factory. They wouldn't sell this stuff if it screwed up your engine. I admit, it was stupid to take out my catalytic converters. I wasnt trying to make a drag truck. I just wanted a nice loud tone to my truck. i dont care if it has more power. But nonetheless, they're back in and those codes are gone. Also, I cant remember off the top of my head what exact code that was. I can check tomorrow. I also have not done any offroading or anything. Strictly highway since i bought it. I wish i could just run into someone that had a similar problem you know?

turns out it was the fuel pump. not all my "mods"

so the EGR dtc was the only code...the fuel pump caused this...

that is a new one..

to me this appears to be failures that are occuring as the vehicle is being used...
