a rumor I heardstanner 04-08-2003, 11:47 PM As I have been researching the sr20det swap I have ran into a few places that say this engine in electronically governed to 112mph I was wondering if there is actually any truth to this. Also I was wondering if any of you happen to know what the general top speed is for a lightly modified RB25det in a 240sx? thanks for the help morimotor34 04-09-2003, 12:51 AM Quite likely that the SR20 is electronically limited to 112. I know that the RB26DETT is limited to 112 also!! That's pretty ridiculous. As fo the RB25, sorry, don't know what kind of speeds. They may be limited also. However, nothing a little modifying won't fix! With light mods I'm guessing around 140 MPH maybe? Not sure, just a ballpark figure. slydar 04-09-2003, 07:39 AM if youre talking about doing a conversion using JDM parts, including their computer, every single one will be limited to 180kph (112mph) its the law over there. there are multitudes of ways around this however. mynismo 04-09-2003, 08:52 AM don't worry, you can get around the governor. it's not that hard... simple mod. Robs240 04-09-2003, 10:54 AM can you guys tell me how to get rid of the speed limiter? I raced a Honda Civic and lost because my car cut out :( mynismo 04-09-2003, 11:36 AM over 115? wow.. lol. you need to just pick up your 1/4 mi time... gonna get yourself killed on the hiway dude! i'm not sure how to do it (i have an auto) but i know it's possible. i'll look a lil later and post when i find out how to do it. Robs240 04-09-2003, 11:48 AM Mark nice car by the way! I love the color and the sunroof :) mynismo 04-09-2003, 11:49 AM that's another advantage of the auto :flipa: i've had my baby up to 125 NISSANSPDR 04-09-2003, 02:08 PM 112mph is basically the Japanese limited 200kph...but is easily fixed Nissan240sx 04-09-2003, 02:37 PM everyone keeps saying its easily fixed...well how?? i tried looking in the internet on how but didnt find it :( stanner 04-09-2003, 07:13 PM yeah I was wondering the same thing because I really have not found all that much. it is really annoying when my governer cuts in on my KA and I am sure that it will be much more frustrating with an sr or rb. and as for going over 115 being really fast I don't even race but I drive over 100 for probably 20% of all the highway driving I do. then again I only drive that fast when there is close to no one else on the road. driving that fast with other people on the road is just plain wrekless. Sanchi 04-09-2003, 10:05 PM umm Driveing that fast is always wreckless:bloated: :bloated: if u get caught your car will be impounded and your licensed suspended, you might even get jail time i think. Going over 100 is breaking the law... stanner 04-09-2003, 11:22 PM yes that is the unfortunate truth thankfully I have only had one ticket in my 240 and that was almost a year ago in a small town in texas. and yes going over 100 is wrekless but when you are doing it on empty freeways in the middle of nowhere you are only endagering yourself and unsuspecting animals. mynismo 04-10-2003, 10:39 AM yeppers, dont get my wrong im all for hi speeds, but when no ones around, including cops ;-) thanks for the comment rob. i love taking off the sunroof in the summer. Nissan240sx 04-10-2003, 11:09 AM well isnt breaking the law just simply going ver the speed limit? :), the highest speed limit here ive seen in miami is 65 mph stanner 04-10-2003, 03:14 PM the highest I have seen is 75 driving through arizona and NM where if you drive under 85 you are a danger to the traffic around you. people driving out in the middle of the desert just drive really fast. heck even out here in california I have set my cruise control at 4000 rpm in 5th gear and still had a constant flow of traffic passing me (I am not sure how fast that is as my spedo sensor on my transmission is broken and I haven't gotten it fixed yet) but I am guessing maybe around 90 since the governer kicks in at 4750 which is 112ish. either way there are many situations when driving over the marked speed limit is necessary to avoid being a hazard to other traffic. so it is not like driving exactly the posted speed limit is always safe under optimal weather conditions. flylwsi 04-10-2003, 04:51 PM back on track... the limiter is built into the ecu, and i've seen a "defencer" that you can use to over ride it, or get your ecu reprogrammed, etc... there was some talk about it in the lancer forum.. you may want to go to the japan section of the skyline forum and ask how they get it done there... since that's where it's from... stanner 04-10-2003, 07:12 PM thanks for the tip mynismo 04-12-2003, 03:39 PM yea fly you're right, it also just popped in my head today that it's the ECU. go here http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/240sxind.htm and get your ECU reprogrammed, i think thats the only way to do it. Datsun_Dude 04-16-2003, 05:36 PM Hey Wolfpac, where'd you get that Kenshin icon?
