700R4 - How much power can it handle?Johnnyfiveoh 04-08-2003, 05:13 PM Just wondering in a stock application, from a 2.8 V6, how much HP/lbs, should this tranny handle? I'm looking towards towing characteristics more than anything. I've seen that '87 - '93 units are best? Rob_0126 09-01-2003, 11:39 PM Ive read somewheres they can handle up to 330-350 ft/lbs of torque, before they break. I cant remember the website that has the flowchart, describing this, and what to do about it, so it can handle. Heres a site that talks about something about the tranny: http://www.highperformancecars.com/crosley/drvshell.htm Heres another: http://www.transmissioncenter.net/700R4_Torque_Drive.htm EDIT: Here it is: http://www.700r4.com :) Robert vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
