Blower motor resistor. Located on the front passenger side under the kick panel mounted up against the fire wall fairly easy to do need small sockets as there is not much room to get two of the three bolts out. The Resistor is like 20 bucks. Pretty common issue with intrigues or any car for that matter. Hope it helps.

Also unless you take the passenger seat out you'll be sitting upside down until the jobs done... I found it harder to do it kneeling outside of the car than just doing it upside down.

Thank you I will give it a try. I am going to the bone yard for some other stuff, Do all pontiacs and buicks have the same resitor, save going to the dealer.

I'm not positive. I do know that autozone does sell them brand new they are $20.00. I wouldnt get a used one though, As cars get older those tend to go. I honestly havent driven a car that hasnt had that problem Nissan Maxima, Grand am, and 2 Intrigues. The one in my 02 Intrigue only works on 234 and 5 and I already replaced the one in my 99. Best bet is to just get the new one to save yourself a possible 2nd repair on the same job.

Thanks for the advice I agree when it comes to electronics it's best to buy new. Now the challange I hope I can find the sucker under the dash/kick panel.

Yea it's pretty easy once you get the part from the store you'll know what your looking for. It's got 2 wires coming out of it that plug to the blower motor. One is purple and one is orange at least that is what mine were. And a bunch of other wires that are attached to a plug that go into into it. It's Mounted on the fire wall you have to take the passenger side kick board off its that fabricky ish material under the glove box. Then you will see it right behind the blower motor its a pretty easy job overall. Once you get past the limited room issue and, if you have proper tools its a very tight fit trying to get a socket in there to get the 3 bolts out you might want to invest in a very small socket wrench my standard size was a pain to get the 2 back bolts out..

Thank-you for the detailed info I did look and look before I read your posting and could not see anything that looked like a resistor. Now I will go and give it another try.

Well after looking under the dash. I said the hell with tring to remove that little sucker. If I can't live with the 3 speeds I am just going to unplug the wires off the old unit plug the wires on the new unit and just tie the new unit with a few wire ties and be done with it. Thanks for all your help

lol... Well said I'd have done that with the 99 but, it wasnt my car it's actually my mom's car but I treat it like it's mine. That was where my love of the Intrigue started. I'm thinking about getting an Oldsmobile Aurora the newer body style not the wierd space ship looking ones.

Here in the Toronto area anything that is Olds is selling for less then a brake Job at your local shop. A guy listed his 02 Intrigue for $1,000 with just over 120,000kms orginal owner it looked great in the picture. People think that parts are not available most people are to stupid to realize that 99% of parts are shared across the procduct lines and all body parts are available everywhere. So remember never pay more then the price of a brake job for any olds.

Yea I'm looking into any compatable Catalytic converter for an 02 Intrigue with the california emissions equipment in there. So far I found one cat thats OBD2 Compatable and California state emissions compatable. It's not working very well. It looks like either way I go I'm going to end up paying 400 bucks. They make some universal cats but they cant be used in my car cuz they can be used in cali emission standard vehicles.
