I recently picked up an HD with a 6.0 engine and now that the mornings are cold it starts right up but then hesitates and dies. If it doesn't stall it almost stall about 3 times and then runs fine. I'm pretty sure this is the emissions acting up but I can't remember. I'm wondering where to look first.

i would say check fuel pressure make sure it don't reduce itself after you start it. my truck has done that once but it was a cold morning when it did it.

fuel pressure is as mentioned a good test,,,,but if this is just when you first start when the engine has fully cooled I would check the ECT,,,,if this is reporting the wrong temp of the engine the fuel delivered to the engine maybe toooo lean...

the pcm would not command the injectors to fully open with a cold engine this would give a poor cold start...this can be measured with out removal..of the ECT ,,so measure when cold the resistance and match with the temperature /resistance chart for proper reading...

Sounds good. Where is the coolant sensor?

the ECT is on the driver side of block next to the number one spark plug...two wires,,,sensor output..

at 50deg f it should be about 5500 ohms at 40 deg f about 9000 ohms

at 70 deg f 3500 ohms...

at operating temp of 195 deg f it should be 225 ohms...

if more than 10 % off replace..

could also be bad wiring/connector etc....
