I gotta get a new tranny for my integra cause second and third gear synchroes are starting to go. right now it has a YS1 that's geared really low. (3500 rpm at 60mph). I thought about getting an LS tranny but I don't know if that would be too tall for the car. I don't want any big loses in performance. Also my tranny now has an LSD. Is it possible to take it out and put it into an LS tranny ? Or do you guys think I should just get another YS1. It has to be a cable tranny so I don't have too many options.

the ls tranny may have taller gearing. but i dont think that it will totally ruin your low rpm performance. you probably wont notice a difference.

yes you'll notice a big difference in acceleration. just replace it with the same type. you could keep the lsd but labor on that is high. are you sure you have a lsd tranny, not many cable lsd trannies out there

I'm sure it's the LSD and that's also one of the reasons why i'm having a hard time swapping it out. But I hate it when I'm driving on the Freeway at 70 and my engine is revving at 4000 rpm. Plus I wanna go turbo someday so with the LS I'll already have the right tranny. How much do you guys think an LS tranny will affect my 1/4 mile time ? Right now I'm running a 14.7

well if you go turbo then it'll really effect your et.:D

i know it will then, but I probably won't have the money to go turbo for a couple months so i just wanna know how much slower i'd run the 1/4 with a LS tranny than a YS1.

I always thought LS trannys were good for turbo setups cause of the longer gearing ? I don't need to know exactly how much slower it'll be just ballpark. I mean can i expect to loose like 1 hundreths of a second or like half a second ? Oh and since you seem to know a lot about this stuff GSR, what kind of tranny would you get with my setup ?

then i'd say 1/2 a sec.

thruth is shorther gearing=faster run unless youre hitting 110+ mph traps. the reason why some may get slightly better times with an ls tranny is traction. nothing a pair of drag radials or slicks cant fix :smoker2:

since trannys are my weakness (i don't know much about them) how hard would it be to fix the synchros in my YS1 and put say the LS 5 gear in it or something like that ?
