1978 chev (auto trans) wont shift into second gear

I just bought this truck. It sounds like its going to shift, but wont. What can I do?

I had a 73 with this problem it was the shift cable stuck,,check the carb transmission cable for issues...

Also check the vacuum line to the modulator located at the right rear of the tranny and at the rear of the intake manifold.

cheap insurance replace your modulator that is mentioned in the above post got a 77 c-10 it went bad and ended up ruining second gear.

What transmission?

Things to check.
Fluid level and condition of fluid and filter?
TV cabel?
Vacuum and vacuum modjulator valve?
Also a striped governor will cause a no upshift?
