Tommi Makinen 1999 Evo VI WRC

EDIT: is the 2000 WRC not 1999.

Was in my local hobby shop and found a 2nd hand gem. Tamiya Mitubishi Evo 6 WRC with studio27 Marlboro Monte Carlo decals and PE bolt kit. The chassis was started and is totally scrap, no painting on it at all.

Body has been completed and clear coated. Looking at reference photos, it shows the team ran the 'non tobacco' livery however the podium shows Makinen standing on a car with full Marlboro livery. Therefore I have done the car with the Marlboro decals.

It will be a OOB build and should be relatively quick as now it's just the chassis and cockpit to complete almost. The car will be built with the 5-spoke wheels not the other ones as the photo suggests. The team actually ran a mix of both wheels throughout the season I have found from pictures.

Here are some shots of the car from event, as well as how the model stands tonight.

Comments and critiques are as always very welcome.

Good job in masking off the white areas of the model! Looks very clean:iceslolan. I'm also building this model together with another Lancer WRC. Will post pics later once I have the chance to upload some pictures.

No offence, but the Lancer Evo you're building is from the 2000 WRC season as there are less ralliart decals, and the placement of some of the sponsors' logos are slightly different from those on the 1999 version.

Keep up the great work!

Ahh so it is the 2000 one. Thanks for that, I noticed the RALLIART decal on the back end was not quite in scale haha.

I have the 1999 Rally NZ one to go after this one, so it is nice as they will make a nice set (even though a little off). Have spotted your thread and like your decal work on your tarmac one!

Have been busy with work and couldnt get to the modelling bench although tonight and this weekend are free so will be cranking along with Tommis ride as much as I can.

The Ralliart decal at the back end is one of the more obvious differences between the two versions, so that’s why I noticed hahahahha. Can’t wait to see the 1999 NZ version you’ll be building next!

Looking forward to seeing more great work from you. Will you be wiring the interior?
