99 new beetle taillight bulb holder-need one

I have a 99 New beetle which needs a tail light bulb holder.OK so I go to the dealer,buy one and ready to switch it out.Only problem is,I think it will not fit.
The original bulb holder has 3 prongs, where the new one has 2 prongs.
BTW, I did not open the pkg so...
1-is this a "generic" fits-all-vw's bulb holder and will it work on my bug
2-anyone know of an online source
