You have a point there...

One of my friends didnt know what kind of engine the Prelude VTEC that he was going to get had.
Before he went to go buy the car he showed it to another friend he was like "DUDE!!! It's a H22!" and the now H22 prelude owner was like "OK...whatever that is..."

It's funny now cuz he has some mods done to his h22 and he said "it's running lean".I asked him if he knew what that meant.
He had a hard time trying to explain to me what "running lean" meant.
I just laugh at him every time I ask him what it means. Now he's gonna buy a fuel pump.

But then there are those "other" honda owners that actually know what they are dealing with...
There's one guy driving with a H22A in his hatch...

word. here's something that'll make you cry (i did).

Import Racer (possibly the most rice out of all the rice mags out there) is coming out with a new magazine next month called "Drifting Magazine", devoted entirely to the american drift scene. the world is over. these writers don't know they're asses from a hole in the wall and don't deserve to even look at these cars let alone drive them and write about them, and now all the little riceboys are going to buy this magazine and it'll make them think that they're Tsuchiya EVEN MORE, so they'll go out, buy up all of our precious RWD cars, crash them and kill themselves and the cars. :( :(

First FatF and now this, the world is really gonna end.
Whats next?
The Japanese tuners are gonna start ricing out cars?!?

on the other hand...

What if we kill all the riceboys first before they buy our precious RWD cars?
They're gonna kill themselves anyways...

buy up all of our precious RWD cars, crash them and kill themselves and the cars.
Then comes stricter laws and higher insurance rates and bleh :(

yeah that does really suck. but on the bright side that means that rwd cars will be in higher demand, and thus raise the market value of our cars. but on the otherhand that is not much of a trade off. Stupid capitalist market driven economy.

the only 2 pro's i see are that our cars re-sale value could go up, and also they could get more aftermarket support (ie more japanese parts available). but other then that, it's all bad news.

A con that I see is if all these RWD cars become really popular, that's gonna spell out more theft and such, like with all those hondas that are targeted with their super custom jobs and stuff. Time to start stocking our cars with some baseball bats and anything else we can get in the back of it. :D

Whats your point? Anyone who wants to drift is going to crash at least once, riceboy or not. Its a given.

Personally, I dont think ANYONE (not even a riceboy) is vain enough to go BUY A CAR so they can pretend to be like some OBSCURE FOREIGN GUY they saw in a NONMAINSTREAM magazine who has a rare skill that CANNOT be applied to racing, or anything other than SHOWING OFF (I know some of you drift out of personal pleasure but if someones buying a car to drift out of pleasure than theres nothing to complain about. am I right?)

And even if this DID bring more people to the drift scene, wouldnt it be a good thing?

(BTW, S13 im not really talking to you personally...i think most people on this board have similar opinions about the "exclusivity" of rwd)

We can all hope that it's such a ricer mag it's all FF drifting (not true drifting but fun anyway hey it beats walking) Or maybe it might have a whole new staff and be a cool mag. why do i keep getting my hopes up?

well, who really knows for sure. maybe Import Racer is only providing the funding for the magazine and is hiring a whole new staff of knowledgable people for it. that's the best case scenario. the worst case scenario is obviousley a bunch of know nothing Honda ricer boys running the magazine that know nothing about the sport or the cars involved. we'll see what happens when it comes out next month. oh, and it's not just for FF drifting. on the preview site (i can't remember the URL), they have the Mazoora Falken Toyota Chaser JZX100 that was at Drift Showoff last month.

Fliquer - of course everyone is going to crash when drifting, but SMART people who get into drifting will know to start off easy and won't expect to be a super-pro drifter the first time they try it. they'll start easy and therefore the crashes will be smaller and less serious. some morons (the Hot Import Nights crowd) will see the mag, buy a RWD car and think they can be a super pro drifter right off the bat. they'll go full speed into a drift and expect to soar through it, but instead they'll wreck into a telephone pole. i've heard of it happening before, and i don't want to see it happen again. also, it seems you have something against drifting. drifting IS showing off. it's purely for fun, and by doing it, we don't expect to lower our track times or go any faster in a race. we drift to drift, we drift for fun. that's what it's all about. i personally think drag racing is illogical (lets go in a straight line for 11 seconds), but i keep my opinions to myself and focus on what i like.

it IS good that more people are coming to the drift scene, but some of the wrong kind of people are converting, and they need to realize that drifting is an art form that takes years of practise to perfect.

too-cool-2
04-09-2003, 08:06 PM
drifting is cool...ive only tried a couple of times, but its difficult to get right, i usually end up in the dirt, two times on the curb, thats why i kept the stock bodywork, if i go drifting i can just slap on the stock 240 bumper and i dont have to worry about damaging it because its sh*t already!

the funny part is people who know what D1GP is but think that its time based. its not. ranking is based on i think 3 judges. thats why its so fun to watch though is just to see the different styles that people use.

HICAS = rear wheel steering, (only 3-5 degrees) like on the new chevy trucks (that suck), and the prelude had it too. oh well, the skyline had it too. i hear its bad though because sometimes in in phase and sometimes its not (hard to determine during normal driving)

but the 240s with hicas also came with LSD (dont ask me why, i think its really stupid, but they did and non-hicas 240s didnt)
