Switchesrhombus 10-25-2001, 06:25 PM I will be making a plate to hide the open bits at each end. But for now I'm happy with the look. rhombus 10-25-2001, 06:27 PM Yes, the red switch is for the passenger ejection seat :) Schludwiller 10-25-2001, 07:32 PM Who makes them ARB? (I noticed the ARB logo unless that's just a sticker). Anyway, manufacturer, price, etc? I would like to eventually get all my switches in one location. Craisy Daisy 10-25-2001, 07:55 PM Schlud, the switches are generic and resold by a company called removed per request. I've got a bunch of them as well and they make your switches uniform and slick. rhombus 10-25-2001, 07:59 PM Yup, CD pointed me to the source. The ARB switch is the one that came with the ARB compressor. The cool thing is that with the mounting plates you can build your own custom switch panel (what ever lenght you want). You can also order a bunch of different front panels (no light,Red, Green, Amber). There are also a bunch of switch types. Thanks again CD for the info. warmonger 10-25-2001, 08:50 PM I am glad you guys posted this. Now we know who makes switches that will match our ARB switches. I bookmarked this one! Philosopher 10-26-2001, 04:09 PM Originally posted by warmonger I am glad you guys posted this. Now we know who makes switches that will match our ARB switches. I bookmarked this one! Yep, good stuff. This place and www.allelectronics.com is where Coolerman gets a lot of his wiring stuff. rrdstarr 10-26-2001, 08:34 PM For those of us with 2001's I wonder if you can get a switch that fits in the socket next to your rear wiper setup? I'll post a pic if I lost everyone with that statement! rhombus 10-26-2001, 08:58 PM If this is left of the steering wheel and like the security switch then these will fit right in. I have some holes on the left side of my steering wheel (this is where the old stuff was located). Much better having it all in one place nice and neat. rrdstarr 10-26-2001, 10:31 PM ChuckH was asking me where my cruise control power switch was one day! His is over near the rear window washer and mine(2001) is clustered with the cruise control controls on the steering wheel! So if those (ARB) switches fit in that stock hole, that would make for a tidy switch location for some reverse lights! :) Toy Man 10-26-2001, 10:44 PM Schlud, the switches are generic and resold by a company called Waytek Wire. Great post.. Wish I had known about those switch plates when I made my plate (several times.) For anyone with ARB switches, notice the actuator removal tool shown on the mounting plate page. I have broken 4 or 5 of the ARB switch actuator's and now carry several spares. I find them a BITCH to take off without breaking them. coolerman 11-16-2001, 01:39 PM Looks good rombus! I told CD about Waytek a while back when he was asking me about switches. These are the switches I use for all my kits. They are heavy duty! Toy Man the actuators come off easily if you pry one side loose at a time! Getting the switches out of the bezel on the other hand is a bitch! I found that using two old rulers will compress the fingers allowing them to be easily removed :) Now a favor from everyone? These kits will soon be for sale on NOR. There are many months of testing and development of these kits by several people. Could we keep the sources for the components of these kits secret a little longer? I know I didn't ask anyone not to post it but I didn't think they would :) If this is an out of line request just say so... rrdstarr 11-16-2001, 02:12 PM Coolerman is that a company of yours or that you work for? Would we be able to buy the CIBS and othe stuff you have made for Mr T? coolerman 11-16-2001, 04:13 PM It's my company :) (If you call my basement a business!) I do this design and building electrical stuff on the side. It just also happens to be what I do in my real company Global Software, Inc. I am a partner with 3 other people, two programmers and a business manager. and yes those kits are what will be for sale on the NOR site. Just need to work out a few details with Mike. I am looking for ideas (like the faceplate thing that Rhombus did!). In the past if I use an idea that someone else comes up with and it works I give that person a kit of their choice! I also trade them for other things. Like I need a winch! Anyone want to trade some electrical kits for a winch? :hehehe: Goliath the X 11-25-2001, 10:02 PM :bloated: rrdstarr 11-26-2001, 04:46 AM Now tell us all where you got it? Goliath the X 11-26-2001, 08:16 PM The switch is a cheap $2 switch from PepBoys. I cut the plastic cover plate with a dremel to the correct size so the switch slides in and locks into place. Becareful not to cut your fingers with the dremel :bloated: Goliath the X 11-26-2001, 08:21 PM I found those cool switches at a marine store, the damn things are $17.99 for 3-way and 15.99 for 2-ways. Shit, thats pricy for a switch. coolerman 11-27-2001, 08:01 AM For those that need another place to mount a dash switch. Remove the security panel, take out the LED being careful to not to break the wires. Now drill a new 5/16" hole for a LED holder like the one I use for CIBS right above the opening. Now you have another empty hole for a switch like the one from Pep Boys! Schludwiller 11-27-2001, 12:14 PM Hmmmmm...I already have two secondary alarm LED's. I could probably just loose that one for the switch spot. Thanks for the tip. I haven't decided if I'm going to run a swich bank under my stereo when I replace it (like Rhombus), or if I'll use the spot for gauges. Schludwiller 11-27-2001, 12:18 PM Originally posted by rhombus Yes, the red switch is for the passenger ejection seat :) My vote for coolest switch on an Xterra is still Anti-Tree Huggers "Battle Override" military switch he has mounted on the map-light housing for his 180w KC's. I think it's from a Bradly Fighting Vehicle. Ben rrdstarr 11-27-2001, 01:21 PM Tkae pictures of those switches for us! I'd like to see them! I had these cheap switches on my S-10 that "photon torpedo" hooked up to my KC daylighters! I'll see if I can steal the camera ben Antitree_hugger 11-27-2001, 02:22 PM Schludwiller 11-27-2001, 03:17 PM Here's a lighter version. rrdstarr 11-27-2001, 03:46 PM Those are the same switches we use in aviation with just a different sticker on them! :) Antitree_hugger 11-27-2001, 04:22 PM Originally posted by rrdstarr Those are the same switches we use in aviation with just a different sticker on them! :) hehehe yup I found a place on the internet where you can order them with the stickers (custom printed of course) I'll see if I can dig up the address again. rrdstarr 11-27-2001, 05:14 PM I was thinking of doing some custom switches to the X. My S-10 had all kinds of goofy-ass switches in it! I should have taken pictures of it 15 years ago! superjens 11-28-2001, 02:29 AM Nice switch ... and here I was thinking *I* had a good idea  http://www.easycarts.net/ecarts/RusticAccents/images/LS5G.GIF vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
