will a 03-05 Headlight switch work in a 2000?

I have a 2000 GMC sierra 1500 that was made in Canada so I can not shut off the headlights unless I push the ebrake down. I see that the 03-05 models have the headlight switch that you can shut them off by turning it back to the left. (manual mode). Will this switch plug into my truck and work the same was as the 03-05 models? If anybody has tried this let me know before I shell out $ for a switch.

Curious..
Hit the Cargo light button 4 times and see if the same override for my 2002 works on your 2000.

This doesn't work on 99-01 Modeled GM Trucks. If you want complete control over your headlights you need to bypass the Automatic Headlight thingy in the dash. To do this you put a resistor across the two terminals that go from the BCM to the Sensor. I put a 1.5 K Ohm Resistor across mine with a switch so that they can be in either manual or AUtomatic mode.... Keep in mind your DRL's will still come on regardless of what your lights are doing...
