knock?

85 2.8L 5spd. Only after its warmed up with a mile or so under her, i hear a knocking when rpms hit above 3k when shifting. If i'm casualy driving and shifting easily i hear nothing. Only if a want to romp on it. I've checked n tightend everything on and around the block. Is this a rod saying hello?

hows your oil pressure? if its dropping,or not where it normaly is, mr rod and mr bearing might not be getting along. but the 2.8 motor was kind of a noise prone one. my 85 2.8 was ummm,well..thrashed on its whole life. i had a lot of noises in the high rpm ranges,knocks included. it made it to about 115k then it threw a rod during a burnout contest. you could drop the oil pan and pull the rod caps and check them. or maybe now is a good time to look for a 350
