Evaporator drain tube leaking too much

My truck has been smelling like antifreeze for the last couple of days and today on the way home from work my low coolant light came on but the temperature stayed the same. On my way home I did not run the a/c at all and when I got home there was a steady drip of water coming from the evaporator drain tube with the truck running. I filled my reservoir up but am figuring it will leak out pretty fast. Anybody know what it could be? Or any way of narrowing down what it could be?

your heater core is leaking,,this is usually from insuffecient coolant which controls the corrosion...also the use of dirty tap water which has metals that attack the metal used in the engine/heatercore...if you live were heater operation is not required immediately,,,you must bypass the heater core by making a bypass pipe to connect the heater hose output from the engine together..rather than go to/from the heater core..

this will give you time to find a repair shop that can do this repair..

THE DASH WILL REQUIRE REMOVAL ....

Yes, bad mix can cause it, but I had to put a heater core in my wifes TB before it had miles or years on it, and it had never been changed, I think the general just had some crap heater cores for a while.

Just bypassed the heater core and it seems to have stopped leaking. Good thing I live in florida. The only thing I threw me off was that there was nothing leaking in in my cab but I guess there is a catch that leads to that drain tube. Thanks for the help guys.

now that you have this bypassed start saving for the expensive repair bill...if you get some repair estimates I'd be interested in the amounts..

good luck..

I don't plan on getting it fixed until it starts getting cold. I have a 99 silverado and will post the cost when I do get it done.
