No break-in is required.

FWIW, the 'break-in' procedure is only needed to ensure proper seating of an engine's piston rings. Pretty much any other mechanical device does not require a break-in.

You may want to flush all the old fluid and gunk from the transmission cooler and lines before hooking up the new transmission.

If you have not filled it with ATF yet, here's a tip. Add about 6 liters of ATF then start the engine. Let it run for 20 seconds or so then check the fluid level with the engine running. You will probably need to add another couple of liters to bring the fluid level up.

Then make sure the fluid is filled only to the ADD mark on the dipstick. Take it for a drive. When the trans is warmed up, check the level again, when running and top it up to 'FULL'.

ok i did what you did and then when i was going to test drive, the truck wont move. it feels like it wants to move like ur low on atf but if you jack up the truck and put on grive it will move with no problems front and back and it switchs all gears but then when i put the truck back on all 4s it wont move????? autozone said that the band and cluth plates have to swell up first so leave the truck over night and then when you wake up just start up the truck let it worm up and then check the atf?? if its true then i think leaving the truck over nigh should do it

letting sit over night will not help this concern. you have internal concern, sounds like posssiable low fluid psi. at this point you need to installed trans psi gauge and ck fluid psi. psi tap for this trans is up above shift level on trans case. did you recondition oil pump asm, if so did you reinstall slide spring, missing slide spring will cause this condition.
just to be clear it does slip in reverse also, right...

if reverse works fine you have problem in the input housing. did you replace all the seals
in the input housing during overhaul? either way you go you will be pulling it back out.
also make sure the forward clutches and overruning clutches are stacked up correctly.
what was the cause of failure the first time?

the only servo in this trans for the 2+4 band and would not effect foward clutches and or low and rev clutches. did you reseal the low and rev piston in the bottom of the case?
i have seen these piston crack and stay slightly up causeing clutch ty up between forward and rev. you are going to have to pull it back out and recheck all pistons and clutches. also does this have an aux valve body. this is the housing at the bottom under the valvebody with a feed pipe going from the housing to the pump.
