O4 Eating Rotors

My 04 now has 100k and I need to put my 4th pair of rotors on. It always comes down to a breaking viberation when stopping and it seems to be just over a year after I replace the rotors. Nothing appears to be worng with the calipers and everthing seems like the release of the pads should be fine. Is this just something to expect with this truck or should I repalce the rotors. Do you usually stop fairly hard? You may need to slow the vehicle down and not press so hard on the brakes. The rotors warp from heat--heat is caused by friction--pressure on pedal causes friction.

Some brake pads, particularly ceramic ones seem to be harder than the rotor steel... so the rotors wear out pretty fast.

Why are you replacing rotors, instead of machining them? Sometimes, some cheapo rotros do not have enough material in them to allow for machining. Try a better (more expensive ) rotor next time.... or just live with the problem.

My '97 Deville has much the same problem as you. But the cheaper rotors cost about the same as machining them.... so I just buy new rotors every time.... no problem. :)

Also inspect the fins of the rotors,pitch and get new ones if they are fully rusted out.I have been seeing this and it was all 4 on a 2003 AWD Chevy van last time.

If high mileage buy rebuilt calipers. The rubber in the caliper seal pulls back the piston slightly after stopping if the rubber gets old they will hang up.
