This seems like it should be an easy thing to do. Does anybody have any tips or advice on replacing the hub assembly? I have a 2003 Silverado 1500. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

before doing any work on something like this it is best to start with the repair manual for your vehicle....then when questions need answers the forum is a great place to aid you in making these repairs..

also you must give a better description of you vehicle...

You will probably need a T55 Torx,15mm socket,18mm socket,22mm socket 1/2 drive plus tools to remove the tire. A 35mm Impact for the front bearing.
http://www.autopart.com/tools/toolsmain/tool/T_4300.htm as you are replacing the hub a big hammer will work. Unplug the speed sensor.
Basically remove the tire, caliper, caliper mount, 3 bolts which hold it on.
Older units nut torque 156 ft pounds.

I just did this on my 2000 Silverado 1500 4WD, it'd easy. take off wheel, unbolt caliper (2 bolts), hang it out of the way with some wire or a bungee cord. Unbolt the ABS sensor and then undo the three bolt that hold the wheel hub assembly. One tip, before you jack up the truck, loosen the wheel bearing nut (35 mm socket).

Did you already buy the bearing/hub ? I'm done buying very expensive parts finding out they last just as long as their cheaper counter parts. i.e. a $300 AC Delco Fuel pump that lasted about 8 months. I found my bearing/hub on Ebay for $45.

Just a thought.
