I have a 98 intrigue with 104,000 miles on it. The plastic intake plenum gave way and filled intake with antifreeze. I had a buddy mechanic replace plenum, plugs, and changed oil twice. Now the car runs warmer in town driving, it got up 3/4 once. I drove it on highway and temp runs normall, 7/16 - 1/2 on guage. Any ides of what could be wrong? Thanks

Does the a/c work? If it does is it on when it runs hot in the city? Have you tried turning off the a/c to see what the temp does?

The air is on when it gets warm, but it didn't get warm with the air on before the plenum was replaced. It does not get warm with the air off in town.

Are your cooling fans running? I believe they should run if the AC is on even on a more or less cold engine, even moreso if its hot.

Yes, both fans kick on cool engine with AC running.

Do they come on at 222 degrees, and has all the air been purged from the cooling system?

I am not sure about either. I have cracked the bleeder screw on top of thermostat housing and got water only with car running. If I start the car cold the fans don't come on until I turn on the AC. If I don't turn on the AC they come on eventually. How would I check if it is 222 deg? What is the correct way to bleed out the air. Could the antifreeze mix be wrong? To much antifreeze and not enough water. It is also green antifreeze that is supposed to mix with everything.

50/50 mix, green will not mix with left over Dexcool, but it still won't cause overheat, a scanner can read the temps when the fan comes on. The 3800 should have a second bleeder I believe, I will check mine later and post back.
