I ruined the pigtail that goes to the coolant temperature sensor on my 2001 Silverado 4.3L.

This is the sensor in the drivers side head. The factory pigtail has a yellow and a tan wire that plugs into the sensor. The parts store supplied me with a new pigtail, but I am unsure of how to solder it to the factory wiring haress. Can anyone tell me which factory wire (yellow or tan) is the return and which side of the pigtial or sendor is the return?

Thank you for your help.

if you measure the sensor you will find the wires are not connected to the car body ground but are FLOATING....this is nothing but a resistor that varies with temperature...just conect the wires to the connector and heat shrink the solder joints for protection from shorting out...
