purchased an 86 tc signature three weeks ago. 5.0, almost 400,000 on the odometer.
i didnt pay much for it knowing it needed some work, got it just for fun and the plan on it after some work being a reliable car. sweet ride.

serpentine belt broke on the way to the shop and overheated.
it didnt pass emmissions -failed pretty hard due to blow by of the piston rings due to high milage.
i just need some info on what engines and parts are swappable for this car. im thinknig about storing it for a while and getting a replacement block and pistons for a quick and cost effective swap that i wont be dioing myself. that way i can pick the parts myself that go in, and avoid some labour cost of having the old engine torn down and bored.

i will be contacting local shops and scrap yards for parts... problably next month, as theres a fresh foot of snow on the ground.

any parts you reccomend?
can i take any 5.0 mustang block?

I see your not getting much action on this post.
There's a few guys over at LOL (http://www.lincolnsonline.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=3) that can advise you on this.

If you are looking to buy an engine check out ALL ENGINE WHOLESALE ENGINE DISTR. (http://www.allautoengines.com/) My husband is a technican and this is where he always gets his engines. They are completely remanufactured basically a brand new engine. You can check the price for your engine (http://www.allautoengines.com/cadillacprices.html) online. Its quick, easy, and the best prices we have ever found. My husband has been getting his engines from them for almost 7 years now and he has never had any trouble. He swqears by them., never had any trouble at all he swears by them. You usually can't rebuild one for the price you can get a remanufactured one from them.

Excuse me??? But if this car drove to the inspection station and only has some piston ring blowby, why not fix the one you already have?????? Sorry, but'm speaking from a mechanics view here, and did you change the oil? and try 20w50??? Try it, you may get another 300,000 miles out of the 302...Earl
