2002 New Beetle problems

i just bought my 2002 new beetle 2 days ago. since the buyer lost the instruction book. i have no idea what are those 2 lights represent for.

1.the left one was on when i start the engine.

2.the right one was off when i start the engine. while i was driving the car on high way, the light on the right side was flashing. then i turned off the a/c the light stopped flashing but its still on. i dont know this problem is comment or not.

plx help with these problems. does the car need an inspection?

1.The right light is coolant temperature light. So i would check your coolant for leaks, if full and for circulation.
The light will come on when the coolant is cold and then go out when warm. If your engine gets hot the coolant temp light turns red. If no leaks and coolant is full and light still on, replace your coolant temperature sensor. Get the one from the dealer. The others are junk. Easy to install.
2.The left light is your airbag system has a fault if staying on after start up or driving.
So many parts to check for this. See dealer.
