Want to know if anyone has experienced this.

I own a 2000 Alero, V6. Recently, when I start the car, none of the dashboard readouts work for approx. 5-6 sec. The engine starts fine and runs well, but the tach, indicator lights, gauges don't start functioning until after 5-6 sec. have elapsed. What I've started doing is turn the key to the Access. position first and wait until the indicator lights function, then start the car. However, if I turn the key from the OFF position directly to START, nothing on the dash will work for 5-6 secs.

Has anyone experienced this? If you have, how was the problem solved?

thanx

It sounds like a bad ignition switch.

Interesting.
Never gave the ignition switch a second thought. I'll have to look at a wiring schematic to see if there is a way the switch can be checked.

thanx for the lead
