ight i have a 2000 silverado 1500 and i have about 5-6inchs of lift as of now but its all done by a 3inch body lift and 2-3inch torsion key lift and rebuilt rear leaf packs, what i want to know is if i get a 6inch actual suspension lift will it stack exact amount of inchs with it so it would bea 6inch lift + 2-3inchs from the torsion keys? or not that much or what? what i want is a 4inch lift kit with what i have now to total 9icnhs to tuck 36x14.50s but if i lose some inchs here or there cause it dosnt stack exactly then i would get a 6inch lift, is that all make sense or will none of it work like that? and if not about how much is it for every thing for a SAS on this vehicle?

Depending on what kit you buy. Most knuckle kits will only net you about 4 inches since most knuckle kits (except for Cognito, CST and other higher end kits) drop the front diff only 4 to 4 1/2 inches. The rest comes from cranking the TB's. Being that you have already cranked 2 to 3 inches, any more will increase wear a bunch more and you are already going to the limits of the UCA's/ball joints and the CV axles.

The 14.5 inch wide tires are going to be a tough fit, that is a wide tire and with most knuckle kits you can only have a max of 4.5 to 4.6 inches of backspacing making wide tires and wheels a tough fit. With 8 inches of lift and 10 in. wide rims I had some pretty serious rubbing issuses with 35x12.5 tires. If you want to run 36's you will need a minimum of a 6inch kit plus what you have, or take it all off and run a 10" kit. With the 36's what are your plans for regearing, 4.88's or 5.13's.

As for SAS'n your rig. What are your plans for wheeling, if you are going to do hard core, mudding, rock crawling. SAS would be good. Just normal off-roading, I'd stick with a lift. Would you be doing it yourself, what kind of fabrication skills do you have. To sas, budget a minimum of 5-6k but can easily be a $10k job. Most spend up to a year collecting and rebuilding parts.

ight thanks, all honestly ur probably the most helpful person ive found here yet lol, and with the set up i have now i am tucking 35x12.50s on 16x10in rims, i have no rumbing at all cause i replaced my stock bumper with a ARB bumper, and if i was to get 14.50s the only thing i see me rubbing is my body mount on the frame and i can clear that with just 4inchs of suspension lift give or take, and i do decent wheeling, i dont like huge ruts and shit just nice trail riding or an nice farm feild to do some donuts in, 2 main reason i wanted to do a SAS on my truck is 1 is to make shit more simple for alignment balljoints CV axles all the bs of an IFS set up, and the other reason is if i get SAS with leafs i can do what ever i want, i had an 87 chevy k5 before this truck with solid axles all around with leafs and i can lift that truck my self between leaf packs shackel flipping etc etc so that is the main reason for SAS and the fact its a bit tougher off road, idc at all about ride quality, ill sacrifice it for more reliablity and simplicity np lol, do u know anyone or think any one on here that has done a custom SAS to this truck could or would make me a kit way cheaper i could buy off them? and can u convert an 8lug dana 60 front axel to a 6lug? i know u can go from 6lug dana 44 to an 8lug but wasnt sure if u could go the other way, and i was thinking of runnin 4.56 gears if i got 35 or 36s, what i had on my k5 with 35s and liked it, u think i should go bigger gearing like a 4.88 or 5.13? and again thanks, and also im trying ot keep the truck some what street legal, im at 24inchs back and 20inchs from bumper ot ground and thats with a 3in body lift so they should measure from ground to frame correct? and i figured if i got 6 more inchs it put me at 30inchs back and 26inchs front roughly and then add and inch maybe form tires and i can adjust here or there with torsion bars if needed, and max lift in VA is 29 front 30in back, and worse come to worse they just give u a $80 fine and thats it, one guy has liek 10-11 lift tickets and just keeps payin em lol, has a late 90s dodge on 40s lol

Hey, sounds like you have a sound idea of what your doing...You hear so many who want to do SAS because its the cool thing to do. In my opinion (just that) I'd say you should just go with a well built knuckle lift. I think SAS is overkill for your needs. If your were going for 38's or bigger, SAS might (maybe) be a better choice. I think you will still have more reliability with the IFS set up. Granted I dont wheel my truck real hard. Most of my off road is railing down the dirt roads on my property. Personally I think people are a hard on the IFS, while yes it has its downsides and problems, its also got its positives. Ive had one alignment in 3 years, thats only cause I hit a curb real hard. Still on the stock cv's, but installed new UCA's with replaceable ball joints.

If you go SAS, You were talking about a Dana 60 up front, do you have auto-trac 4wd or standard, if you have auto trac you will need a new transfer case. What about the back. In that case you would def wanna beef up the back... to at least a 14b SF (14b sf with 6 lugs are rare to find and you pay big $$ for them, 14b sf 8 lug are much more readily available). So the need to convert the Dana to 6 lug would be a waste. I would just run 8 lug wheels. ORU, Sky manufacturing makes kits for converting.

Gearing for 36...i wouldnt go anywhere below a 4.88 personally. Especially if you run a heavy 36 (anything by TSL or Toyo my 35" toyos weigh almost 90lbs alone per tire). Lots of people who off-road a bunch run the Detroit Tru-Trac carrier, I run a Auburn LSD since I dont do a lot of mudding.

I know here in WA while we there are bumper height laws, but not really enforced, Ive only been pulled over once, and it was for mudflaps.

ight im go ahead and throw SAS out the window then lol, and yeah if i did it was going ot be a dana 60 up fornt and 14bolt FF in rear, but about these knuckle lift kits? can i get a 2inch knuckle lift and will that add 2more inchs to what i currently have? and would it strian the CVs a lot? well to much? and CV wise ive been through one i have a friend though that dosnt even offroad his has been threw 3 lol, anyway if the knuckle kits can net me roughly 2 more inchs or so im gonna get those and that will be all i want really, unless i get this job im trying to get then id just get 6in IFS kit but lol, pretty much can i run the 2in knuckles and about how much and were do i find them, and would i have to do anything else to the truck? thanks
