i wonder now that g.m. has reborn if they will continue to put out junk as they have for the last 27 years or learn that people expect a little quality for $30,000.:headshake

I have to say I agree 100%. Not only gm though. All of em are doing it. Gotta cut their costs somehow, labor cost is up.
I have always been a Ford man, same deal...
I work for John Deere, plastic fenders, hoods, etc...
Only its not only a 30000 dollar truck, its all the way from top to bottom. From a measley chainsaw to a 600000 dollar cotton picker.

I agree that they all do it....cheap plastic in areas that take a good beating especially in the cold snowy /icey areas...this plastic gets destroyed....

GM used to just tell you ,,,," you abused the vehicle" ...at least most of the other car/vehicle manufacturers would correct these issues..

recently I have been looking at the toyota suv/trucks more metal protecting the under body componets...very strong pans, shields..

GM cheap plastic crap...one piece of ice at minus 10deg F that plastic is history...

the bad part is it isnt just trucks. this is the problem with most vehicles these days. cheap junk. got a 79 Ford F-150 custom with a 300 straight 6. that truck is more durable and last longer than any vehicle being put on the road today.

i had to rig a shift cable on neighbors '01 hd 2500 the hold down had two plastic ears to hold it in place.well the ears broke off and g.m. dealer wanted $160.00 for a new one that was going to do the same thing .so cut some grooves in the hold down and used a metal slide clip to hold it in place.this is what should have been used in the first place.i have been looking at the way the new cars and trucks have been made the last 7 years and toyota looks to be the best made

Remember John Deere is a Japanese firm.

Bite your tounge. YES, some of John Deere branded smaller equipment is Japanese made, but they are an American company. Actually most of the 5000 series and down are made in georgia or nebraska, 6000 series are German, and most of the large equipment is made on this continent, I suspect mainly because of shipping cost...
