95 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi oil pump

Is replacing the oil pump on a 95 Pontiac Bonneville alot of work, and what does it consist of?

Somewhat tedious and time consuming task involving tearing most of the serpentine driven components and brackets off the front of the engine to gain access to the timing cover, and removing said cover as the pump is driven by the nose of the crankshaft and is located in the aluminum timing cover. If you're getting in that deep, wise to change the timing gear set while you're in there as they'll be worn, and 3.3Ls and 3.8Ls have a bad habit of tossing the cam sensor magnet off the cam gear with age. Does require some specialty tools, primarily the special adaptor bolts for the puller to remove the damper pulley, as it's a press fit.

Thats agreed its a lot of work.. Its not really common of a 3800 to kill off an oil pump.. Being that you have a 95, its more common for it to have main bearing or rod bearing issues with high mileage.. How did you come to the conclusion the oil pump was bad?
