shocks

im looking to put some new front shocks on my 02 silverado 2wd. i looking for something under 40-50 bucks per side. i would like to find something a little stiffer with better handling esp. at highway speeds. any suggestions? also im using spring rubbers to increase the stiffness on the coils. any one used these before?

also just read a post about the intermediant steer shaft. my truck clunks at low speeds while turning. also feel it at higher speeds while turning and hitting bumps but dont hear it. tends to get a little jumpy on larger bumps on highway just feels a little loose over high speed bumps? does this sound like that shaft needs to be replaced? this is the whole reason i was redoing the suspension was because i thought that was where the clunking was comming from. is this a danger over time?

for off roading etc....you may require something different..

For the clunking, check your front sway bar end connections, bushings, and frame connections. A crushed or missing bushing will cause that clunking when the body leans during the turn.

I'll second the Bilsteins, though I have been looking at the Rancho shocks too...RS9000XL has 9-way adjustability but they're ~$75-100 each. The no-frills RS5000 are in the price range you're looking at.

The 5125 is a great all around shock, even for off-roading... A ton of lifted trucks run this shock
