hi guys im really new to this forum stuff, so ima introduce myself.

my name is alex and live in miami fl and am 17. i dont hvae my car yet so i guess im starting off as new. im planning to get a 1992-94 240sx. i fell in love with this car when i saw a video i downloaded on kazaa of drifting. so anyway i need ALL the info i can get on the engine and how to get upgrades and what to get and what not to get and opinions and swaps and looks, what i definetly wanna get is the 180 taillight conversion, get it all in black and get black tints. get a get. oh yeah whats the max drop i can get good enogh for good? lol. well i just basically need opinions and help on everything :) thnx this is the pic of the way i want the tail to look

another thing. don't go out into the streets with your brand spanking new 240SX and expect to be drifting like a champion. drifting is an art form. it takes years of learning and practise to make perfect. Japan's top drifters have all been doing it for at least 5 years to get to where they are now. just telling you this because i've heard stories of kids who see a drift video or watch an episode of Initial D and go out, buy a 240SX and expect to be the king of drifting as soon as they hit the road. needless to say, they usually crash the car, hurting themselves and ruining a good car. that's my advice for you.

another thing. if you drift, you WILL, at some point, crash (usually not seriousley) at least once. they go hand in hand. you can't drift without crashing at least once, it's all part of the learning process, and it WILL be more then once. so if you wreck, don't be discouraged. get back up on that horse, fix your car and keep practising. just don't expect to put alot of money into the car and have it stay the same way! drifting is an expensive sport.

Welcom to the boards Alex. Glad you're here. Yeah, like everybody else said, the FAQs are the best way to start. Lot's of info on mods and upgrades. I would start there. Glad you're so in to the 240 and drifting! Yes, as Brian said, you WILL crash your car while drifting. Just keep that in mind before you go break the bank on a set of $2000 wheels os some extreme bodykit. The car will take a beating, but it really is a lot of fun! Anyways, welcome and hope you have a good stay.

can anyone post some sites on where to get body kits for a 95+ 240?

Depending on what kind of kits you want, check out taka kaira (http://www.takakaira.com). They import numerous body kits dircet from Japan. Most kits are pretty expensive, but they have a great selection. Also, if you're looking to drift, check out Auto Imaging (http://www.autoimaging.com). They have a lot of drift-oriented products. Hope that helps.

Welcome aboard Alex, glad to have ya aboard. A bit of advice, Id recomend going to an empty parking lot and practicing using the e-brake, and learn the basics, so its atleast somewhat safer and away from other cars.

e-brake in a parking lot is a good way to start, just to get the feeling of what it's like to have the ass end of your car step out. but don't rely on the e-brake for all of your drifting career, or you'll most likely be laughed upon.

any websites for parts you may need can also be found in the handy FAQ. i posted at least 20 240SX part-company websites. www.takakaira.com and www.autoimaging.com are probably your 2 best bets for awesome, JDM, non-rice body kits.

i hope u guys noticed im from miami, and there no place here to drift lol, but i would try out that parking lot e-brake drfting. im not really into drifting, its just that that car looked sweet and i just fell in love with it cuz it looked nice doing it all and i guess i would like to drift but not at this point, i first have to focus on getting a job which is so damn hard!!!! lol i have been trying to ge a job at dunkin donuts, but they dont have any damn applications in all of the ones i went, i also tried FYE, Carvel, AMC movie theater, publix, and thats about it, and no luck. screw it ima just go for selling weed...lol j/k anyways i need to build up the money to get the 240 and i am still indicise about getting a s13 or s14.

oh yeah since my mom's parents sold their house in peru like for 300k USD then my mom is surely enough gonna get her cut lol so thatll make it easier on me :)

so guys what should i get s13 or s14

S13 is lighter
S14 is better looking IMHO

Best of luck to ya with the job, Im lookin for one myself, its dam hard here in SoCA, and I like the S13 also over the S14

another tip: don't try drifting on public roads!!!! or you can kiss your ass, your car, and most likely your license good-bye. practising in an EMPTY parking lot is fine, but anything after that, do it on a track or don't do it at all.

Brians maanged to e-brake on public roads, but he lives out of the city, so its not THAT bad....still, he got in a bit of a situation a day or so ago...

well i read somewhere that the early model of the 240, i dont know about the later modles, had a flaw of it leaking somwhere but dont know where.

whats that all about? anyone know? huh? huh? tell me! lol

that wasn't from e-braking, dumbass. i was turning a corner, lost the ass of the car and hit a curb. the lady who called the police CLAIMED that i was e-braking and i got a ticket, but i wasn't e-braking. i told you that! :rolleyes:

I'd go with the S13 personally. I like the hatchback. Yeah, Brian wasn't e-brakeing. Icy roads caused that accident. Sorry again about that little "accident" man! That lady....what a be-otch!!

yeah...got slapped with a $325 "careless driving" ticket. check out my post in stress release to hear the full story. at least it was only my POS Pontiac and no damage was done (besides the blown tire), but STILL! it pisses me off...

Ive never heard of a common leak with the 240, I have a gas leak caused by an accident where my gas tank was hit, but thats about it ;)

Oh, as for max drop...depends....why not slam yours, cuz it looks like u only want it for show(tints and such)

no accually i was thinking of fixing the engine first but not go to the extreme and put like every little detail, u know just the basics, maybe new cams, and stuff but um looking in on that

i got to it too late, soo errrr yeah whatever they said.

go with the s13 they are beast's. if I can give you one piece of advice avoid any s13 that has anti-lock breaks, the early generation anti-locks are very unreliable or at least for me they have been. good luck on finding a non-rusted car in florida
