2006 Ferrari 248F1 Brazil/China GP's

Hey everyone,

here is my lastest project I have started. both are the same Tameo kits (ref 362.)

one will be converted into the China GP (Schumi's final win), the only differences are the Marlboro livery with less engine vents.

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh152/Spike2933/Work%20in%20Progress/Ferrari%20248%20China%20and%20Brazil%20GP/100_1908.jpg

anyway, I have started working on the Brazil version first for now, but I plan of keeping the 2 models at the same progress rate. I spent several hours thinning the rear because it is way too thick.

before

half done
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh152/Spike2933/Work%20in%20Progress/Ferrari%20248%20China%20and%20Brazil%20GP/100_1914.jpg

done

also for those that work on Tameo kits know that the front wings are usually molded together, I split the wings, also the add on pieces were PE pieces that were flat and I thinned them and bent them to the correct shape.

There is still tons of work to do, I am opening all the engine vents, as well as the rear wings, along with thinning nearly every piece because everything is too thick. that and working on two models as well.

paint will be Zero, Fleu Rosso red that was used on the 248F1, with full carbon detail, along with ribbon seatbelts, and possibly rivets.

all for now

C&C are always welcomed and encouraged

cheers,
Steve

That's great work on thinning the wing and other places - it makes a huge difference!

Must be hard on something that small (and I guess delicate). How are you doing that? With needle files or a power tool?

Looking forward to seeing these move forward

I used a bit of both, the Dremel comes in handy to take out the big stuff then the files to smooth it all down.

picked up the copper sheet today so I'm gonna start with the engine vents when I get a chance, but I start training for a new job tuesday and if the guy is impressed, he'll hire me full-time.

but it is quite difficult working with the pieces, but after working on 1/43 for a good bit it time, its becoming normal for me now, the 307 I was building thought it was in 1/12 scale

hmm been a long time since I worked on these cars. but since its getting too cold to spray, I thought I'd start tackling these guys again as alot of work has to be done to this kit to make it look proper

This is the China GP version I am making and of course Schumi's final win. from earlier pics of the Brazil GP car, alot of thinning has to be done as the mold was very thick. I also opened the engine vents the same way Michael (F1M) did his build with brass. I added the panel lines that Tameo forgot to put in.

I keep convincing myself to keep adding more detail to these 2 builds, so no I opened the rear wing  I'm leaving the front because you can't really tell when its finished, as my Super Aguri proved. Some Cleanup still needs to be done

nice job with the CF, I feel for you... it is already hard in 1/20 but in this scale it is even more difficult to get right! Great work on opening all the vents!

yeah its alot of work, but looks much better than semi-gloss black when complete.

Primer is on the car, gonna let this dry for a few days (but a shame cause the weather is perfect right now lol) and then the Red goes on.

Looks great Steve

What CF are you using? is that 1/43? The patterns seems a little large to my (untrained) eye.

PS You need to get yourself a dehydrator! :D

thanks gents,

the carbon fiber is SMS 1/24, I normally use that for all 1/43 to 1/24. I would get the 1/43 SMS has, but its only half a sheet which sucks. Macro does sort of enlarge the weave quite a bit  SMS is really the only brand I use, along with Renaissance as they are supplied with their kits. from Tameos CF decals, the twill is barely off, a tad closer together

right now, I have no money for really anything except a few supplies, I'm been unemployed coming up on 5 months now and still cant find a full-time job that can get me back on my feet.

cheers,
Steve
