86 gmc sierra 1500 truck

i am having a problem with my truck it is a 305 v8 5.0 liter. 2 wheel drive. auto. it stalls when trying to move then goes dead. i checked the auto fluid. but when i put better plugs in it. it runs a little better but it still stalls down then goes dead. what could it be.
