1996 xj6 will not start with key

Hi to all i have inherited a 1996 xj6 that had a bad alternator i jumped the car to get it home but now it is locked in park and only starts by jumping the starter also wipers and lights do not work all worked proir to me moveing the car,i would like some ideas as to what the problem is i know how to reset shift by sliding a screwdriver down the shift access hole but can not drive the car,i have checked all the fuse in all the fuse boxes also
