Hey guys - I am looking for all of your suggestions and tips from muscle car owners. I have owned V8 Camaros, TransAm, Firebirds, & Mustangs so far and now I find myself without a sports car. That being said I am trying to decide what to go for next. I have liked all of the listed V8s I have owned and do not have a specific preference at the moment for my next purchase so I am hoping some of you guys that have had experience as will can give me your opinions, and tips based on what I am looking for.

Currently I am thinking towards one of the 4 above again or a Corvette, but not set on anything, will take any suggestions. Thinking of the 1979-85 Era of cars (which I know splits a few generations). It would be nice to register it as historic (25yrs+), but it is not a requirement if you guys suggest other cars. I like sporty looking cars that can be modded or engine swamped as a sleeper. I am looking to be able to drive the car without issues on the highway at normal speed(~70mph) as well as take it to the local drag track for some fun. I also want to be able to burn most of the competition that pulls up to me at a red light. It doesn't have to be a show quality car, as I do not want to spend top dollar, and want to be able to take it out whenever I feel like it without being afraid Ill put a chip in the paint. I would like it to be able to do at least a 12-13sec 1/4 mile. If its something I would have to swamp engine or add a supercharger too that's always a possibility, but I have time to keep a eye out for one that is already worked.
I know the price is a big factor as my goal would be to spend up to 5,000 now (Sticking close to that if it will need more cash invested) or a few grand more if a car fit my needs well as is.

Any replies and helpful info is appreciated. Again, not really looking for any specific cars for sale right now, just suggestions/tips/ideas of what might work for me to keep a eye out for.

Thanks!
Al

I am not up to date with muscle cars produced today, but you mentioned 1975 - 85 era of cars, and I have driven every one.

Besides the one's you have owned Camaro - Trans Am's - Firebirds - Mustangs, From that era there is also the Supra Turbo - 300zx turbo - Grand National, and my favorite that scared the hell out of me when someone wanted to test drive for muscle was the buick Le sabre T Type,
I can't remember but I think they were only made in the late 80's.

I don't know if you can find any of these vehicles in your price range worth the investment, but it's cars that rate with or beyond from what you have owned from that era.
