Just wanted to shed some light on Expedition rear A/C not cooling when the front A/C works and cools fine. Here's how the repair went.
1. First remove rear seat.
2. Remove all plastic cover parts on A/C side. Parts are durable and you won't break them. Place all parts together so you won't loose them.
3. Check all rear A/C parts for functional condition. Make sure all moving parts are working properly. Move hot/cold controls and panel/ floor controls to make sure both acuators are moving smoothly and not making clicking noise. Here's a link for parts. http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=215006&chapter=&Sectionids=0,51825&groupid=53148&subgroupid=2372&componentid=0&make=10&model=Expedition&year=2001&graphicID=MC97225&callout=5&catalogid=2&displayCatalogid=0
4. Pressure test system for flow. This is where my issue was. A bad Expansion valve.
5. Evacuate system.
6. Replaced Expansion Valve
7. Refilled system.
8. Test system for leaks and cooling. Temperature should be in low to mid
50's. 50-55 degrees. Also could be lower.:)
9. Replace all plastic covers.
Total cost $452 at Midas. Dealer wanted $750. Cost savings $298
Some cost savings came in because i removed rear seat and all plastic. It took about ten minutes to remove and fifteen minutes to replace. I did a little clean-up along the way.

Thank you for your information. On the forum everybody posts about problems they are having and very rarely does anyone post about a solution they have found. All of this information goes into a database that can be researched. I think most of it goes into Google as well. If you are working on your vehicle and have found a solution to your problem or even if you have found an easier way of doing something, post it. You'll help a lot of people. I commend you Franco2112.
