b16a questionhondaboy16v 04-01-2003, 06:59 PM I am a 91 accord owner who longs for VTECH. I think i've made up my mind to get a del sol si and i'll probably be looking to spend about $6k. My question is does the Si have the SOHC VTECH or the b16a DOHC? I'm not really up on the whole del sol thing yet, but i figured this was a good place to get some answers. I really, really want one with the b16a already in it. :flamer: B16EJ1 04-01-2003, 08:07 PM Del sol Si = D16Z6 SOHC VTEC Del sol VTEC = B16A3 DOHC VTEC 94SolGrl 04-01-2003, 08:57 PM b16a>D16. :D I looooove VTEC. Warning, though... if you're looking for a car with super high gas mileage, you're not gonna get it with the VTEC model. B16EJ1 04-01-2003, 09:34 PM Oh yeah and.... VTECH= file:///C:/My%20Documents/My%20Pictures/VTECH.gif VTEC=file:///C:/My%20Documents/VTEC.jpg s2Ksol 04-01-2003, 09:55 PM www.teamdelsol.com is a great source for helpful information about the del-Sol. Click on FAQ The 93 del-Sol was only offered in the S and Si model. In 94-97 it came in S, Si, and VTEC models. Like what everyone else has said the Si model has a SOHC VTEC d16(125hp) engine in it and the VTEC model has the DOHC VTEC b16 (160) engine in it. hondaboy16v 04-02-2003, 01:12 PM Okay, I'm a dumb ass. I know VTEC doesn't have an H at the end. Duh. Oh, well. My next question would be is there an forced induction kit available for the Si model? Is there much tuning potential for the SOHC? Or should i just save my cash for a DOHC? Can I use the stock 5-speed with a B16a if i do the swap? B16EJ1 04-02-2003, 06:33 PM 1. Yes there are many force induction kits for the both B16A and D16Z6 2. Yes the SOHC has alot of tuning potential but is limited to one cam 3. If you mean can you use the SOHC tranny for the B16A the answer is no jr0102 05-07-2003, 08:13 PM Is the B16 head in the VTEC model able to be swapped with a B20? 97Sol 05-07-2003, 11:36 PM yep vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
