1987 22r. carburated. fuel problem.

i have a 1987 toyota pickup. 22r carburated. when i start the truck when cold, it is as if the choke is stuck. it stays on high idle even when warmed up. on top of this, any throttle above about 1/3 while in gear and it sputters badly. now heres the wierd part. only after being turned off warm for about 10 minutes and being restarted, does it idle correctly. however, while running in gear, it only runs on 1/3 throttle or petal to the metal. anything in between and it sputters badly. im not sure if its carburator or fuel filter or in between. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks for your time.
