cruise control on my ford 2000 windstar stopped workingtoughguy5 05-29-2009, 09:46 PM cant understand why it just stopped, checked the brake fluid, and the switch under the MC was replaced awhile ago. i have been having problems with the brake light switch by the brake pedal. the brake lights would stay on all the time while i was driving even when the car was parked the lights would come on, i had to jiggle the switch to get them off. i ordered a new switch from RockAuto. could this be the problem? anybody have this problem too? thanks.fuses are good too. wiswind 05-29-2009, 10:49 PM That switch is easy to replace......while you are at it....give the wires to it a REAL good look. They can wear and break off......which causes NO brake lights.....and you cannot shift out of PARK once the motor is running. Other thing to think about is if that brake pressure switch is still good......should be. Also, the button switches on the steering wheel. toughguy5 05-29-2009, 10:51 PM That switch is easy to replace......while you are at it....give the wires to it a REAL good look. Let us know if replacing the brake switch fixes your cruise control. It needs to be replaced regardless to keep the brake lights off and running down your battery. toughguy5 05-30-2009, 12:09 AM Since tapping the brake pedal disengages the cruise control, it is a certainty that if the brake switch is stuck on, the cruise will not operate... Rockauto had the switch and it worked great. hope this post helps somebody else here. bdahl385 06-05-2009, 11:01 PM Thanks for posting back the positive results... Too many threads never seem to have a final resolution to the problem. Glad you got your cruise and brake lights fully functional again... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
