cooling system problems!

i just had a new water pump and thermostat and rad put into my 99 olds intrigue and it is still over heating. there is a small pipe that comes out from between the heads right above the water pump and i can not find it in any manual to see what the part is can anyone help?????????????:confused:

Is this the 3.8 engine? Im guessing so.

If thats the case, that sounds like your coolant elbow. Made of plastic yes?
If memory serves its part of the lower intake manifold.
They are prone to cracking.

Check the section of your auto parts store that contains things like replacement window handles, and little nick nacks. Usually dominated by the Dorman brand HELP! products. They should have them there.

But I could be way off base, tell us what engine you have.

Also, have you bled the coolant system properly?

yes itis a 3.8L engine. yes i have bled the cooling system that was the frist thing i did and it led me to find this problem.

well i found the part and changed them there was two that i had to change and i will let you tomorrow how it is running.

Why did you change them if I may ask? Were they cracked? Clogged? Leaking?

Does it just overheat when idling or while moving? Are your fans working like they should?

When it overheats...does the engine feel like it actually is, heatwise. It could be a faulty temperature sensor.

Not at all doubting the work youve done, just throwing some more ideas in the pot. Good luck and I hope it works like it should.

Thats some impressive mileage btw. Is it the original transmission?
