another 4l60 question

ok well i finally got my lq4 swap done in my 03 silverado. i was having an issue with the key pass but just put the 5.3 ecm back in and swapped back to the 5.3 harness on the 6.0 because i kept the 4l60 instead of swapping trannies too. now that it runs great it doesn't shift right. i had seperatred trans and motor and swapped fly wheels, put the trannie back with the new motor and put back in the truck. after that i reconnected every thing except for a gray and purple 1 or 2 pin connector, which i can't see or remember where it went. i know theres one the goes to the top of the transfer case and that one's plugged in. when i did the swap i preety much let whatever fluid leak out that i could and when i put it back together topped it off with about 8 qts. well it wont shift from first and has never done this before.i pulled the trannie cooler line to make sure it was circulating and it was. so i decided to pull the pan to change the filter)figured it wouldn't hurt because i havent done so yet,and noticed the tranny fluid coming out of the cooler was much darker then what was in the pan. Now the lines were off and put back on and i checked to make sure theres no way i could run opposite pressures to them self(to prevent circulation) but theres not. the tranny cooler also seems to get kind of hot after running for a short period of time. i'm wodering if that 1 pin connector is the root, and where does it go, and why the fluid color? beforte the swap the tranny shifted perfect. any ideas??? I'm really tired and need this truck for work.much appreciated also when i let off the accelerator it doesnt seem to lock the converter almost seems like tow haul mode.....?

if I get this corrrectly you replaced the 5.3l to the 6L...and you also replaced the pcm/computer/engine harness which caused engine issues running...now with the vehicles original pcm/engine harness on the vehicle with the new 6.L engine the tranny only has 1st/reverse ? the engine issues are gone..

if this is correct make sure the transmission connector is connected and you did not damage these wires..

try to explain what this connector that is unknown as its proper componet connection....where is it near wires color and length off the main harness...shape/type of connector maybe a picture of it..

ok j-cat thank you for the reply i know you read my last post and yes all engine problems are gone the motor runs awsome. i also got my computer tuned for the cam and injectors. now like i said its only tranny issues now. i have double checked all conections and i have have three connectors plugged in now.two right on where the shift linkage is which are tight, the main tranny plug which is a circular 10or12 pin i think which is thight and one more like i said that is a one pin half circle with a tab. its a gray connector with a purple gasket and is sitting right now almost dead center over the tranny. it runs off the drivers side rear harness with every other connector for the tranny and the two drivers o2 sonsors. its preety much one of the last in line from the main harness. like i said i haven't found anywhere for it to go and don't know if it's the cause, obvioulsy i goes somewhere and does something. i am just wondering if and certain plug not connected right would cause this symptom. i have read a lot of other threads about tranny speed sensors and shift silenoids but this didn't come out of the blue.i had to have done something to cause this and when i retrace my steps and can't find anything. any help much appreciated

this description is very well written ...I will check this out and perhaps someone else may give you this info...as well..

I have just looked this up ,,, this appears to be the vehicle speed sensor...this jumps over the driver side of the transmission and plugs into the passenger side of tranny between the end of the tranny pan and the tail shaft...this would be the actual sensor mounted to this side of the tranny...

well i've done some research and am confident the vss is at fault. my question is where exactly on the trans does it plug in. ive looked on the tranny and cant seem to find it,plus my speedo isn't working. i do have two on each side of the t-case which i belive could be vss's but if they are how dodiagnos sensor and or wires just to make sure theres no broken wires in the harness. does it have a power and ground, resistence or what??? thank you again

why didn't you follow my instructions I posted earlier ????speedo is generated at the transmission speed sensor as described..

ok i guess i didnt write that one too clearly. i looked at my trans and theres no speed sensor on the tranny it self. the only thing i can find that looks right is on the tcase but there one on either side of the output shaft of the transfer case. do they run on pulse do the have power and the magents inside ground or how does the sensor run?? if i can understand how it works i can diagnos wether its a shorted broken wire or a bad sensor?(not sure if having the 6liter computer could have fried sensor, but doubt it) thank you

you are not correct ...the tranny has the speed sensor and it is mounted where I stated earlier...
no speed sensor NO SPEEDOMETER NO UPSHIFTING PERIOD...

THE TRANSFERCASE HAS NO SPEED SENSOR ...

the sensor is a magnet/coil as the steel tooth gears move by a voltage pulse is generated...more pulses more speed...

ok i have got every connector in the correct place.now if i try and start in drive it revs, same with 3rd. if i start in 1st or 2nd it will take off just fine and once i get speed if i shift into drive it will go through 3rd and overdrive..... once i slow down to say 20 or so it willl rev again. tranny fluid level is correct and i dont know what else could be wrong. any input will help. all conectors seem tight and no broken wires. thank you

now you will require a DTC of the drivetrain with a scanner that can access oem drive train DTC'S..

the transmission is not getting a correct signal to engage solenoids within the transmission...

recheck the connector going into the side of the transmission with the largest amount of wires for any defects/

did you change the shift cable position or bend and of the support metal of this...?
